年輕時最大的夢想是孤身一人到遠方旅行，去沒去過的地方，用雙眼看世界。去小說和電影中提到的場景，感受作家與主角的心境。
後來結婚生子、年紀漸長，每年生日願望只求日子簡單平淡就是最大幸福，所謂夢想，已經很久不曾出現過。
但是，去了一趟歐洲回來，似乎喚醒我塵封已久的記憶，我想起大四那年看電影「心靈補手」，羅賓威廉斯飾演的教授跟威爾（麥特戴蒙飾）說的那一段”也許你以為你很聰明什麼都懂，但你從沒親身經歷過”台詞（註*），我在電影院內淚流不止，久久不能自己，這完全是我心裡的感受啊，人生就是該用身體用心靈好好去體會啊，旅行也是。我也想起為甚麼想去馬達加斯加（傷心咖啡店之歌）、為什麼想去埃及（英倫情人）、為什麼想去伊斯坦堡（奧罕帕慕克）、為什麼想去捷克（赫拉巴爾）........想去的名單實在太多太多了，好吧，我其實是夢想多到不敢夢想吧（苦笑）。

And I'd ask you about war, you'd probably throw Shakespeare at me, right, "once more unto the breach dear friends." But you've never been near one.
