It's such a privilege to be able to breastfeed Layla until now. It's been almost 11 months, and I'm still loving every second of it. Every now and then, we still chill in bed together for some skin-to-skin TLC. I love that natural, pure, powerful bond that we share together in that short time.

Now that Layla is successfully sleep trained. Frankly, i miss a bit of those late night huggies with her. Haha, say only la... when she was waking up 6-7 times a night, it was really no fun for both of us.
She would cry the min she wake up until someone goes rescue her. Sometimes it's 1 min, sometimes it's 10. Basically, she is constantly waiting at our disposal which is really disruptive for her sleep. After she got older and more aware, it got worse, she would want to be carried in a certain way, a very specific way, and when i can't achieve that for her, she would wail with such intense anger!

I love my baby to the core. But those night wakings were tough and draining. I felt like i wasn't giving her the best of me in the day because i really just didn't have the energy.

I was constantly living in fear. I would tiptoe around the house so i wouldn't wake her up. I'll make Deon go hide in the yard, close the yard door just to open his can of coke cos i didnt want her to wake up while I'm in a middle of a meal. So stressful seriously!

11 months later, i decided to sleep train Layla. I must admit, the first 3 nights were really hard. Thoughts of giving up crossed my mind so many times! But I'm really thankful @deon.woo and Angela @upchild.sg stood by me and held my hand through it all, encouraging me to keep preservering. Finally on Day 5, she slept through both naps and through the night all on her own! I cried. It was tears of joy. I was so proud of Layla. It wasnt easy, but she did it!

I know many moms have a lot of questions re sleep training (like i did)! So I've decided to go on iglive with Angela on Thursday, 19th Aug, 1030am. You guys can ask us everything then! I'll share abt my experience and Angela will provide you with professional advice. She usually charge for consultation. So you guys had better make good use of this opportunity! Haha!

This was a picture I took of @yangarielle Arielle a month ago, little did I know that this would be her last diapers picture.

11 months since we started toilet training and today is Arielle’s 4th week of being diaper-free for majority of her nights. I say majority because there were 3 nights where she wore diapers because, 2 nights she really needed milk before bed and 1 night she slept over at my parents. We are still taking it slow and listening to her cues, if she really needs diapers, we will put it on for her.

We have had 4 misses so far - first was on the third day where she came to my room at 3am saying, “Mommy I wet my pants”. The second and third miss was on Day 4 where we reckoned that the AC was too cold that night. I would comfort her “it is alright”, clean her up and she quickly falls back to sleep. After being dry for 3 weeks, our 4th miss was just earlier this morning. Is the 4th miss to commemorate week 4, Arielle? 😝

Night toilet training all started for us when Arielle didn’t have milk before bed. I asked her if she wanted to wear panties to sleep tonight and she replied YES in a heartbeat! I was so excited, I changed her into panties, lined her bed with a waterproof mat and put the potty and flushable wet wipes in her room.

Arielle is a milk monster like all of us know. She would ask for milk out of routine even if she has had a hearty dinner. Some of the changes we made was to offer Arielle milk earlier, lesser or even no milk on most nights now. We also take her to the potty before we go to bed at about 11.30pm-12am. Arielle pees quite a substantial amount in a sleepy state so she sleeps right back. If she wakes up MOTN to look for us, we will take her to the potty too. Arielle sleeps at about 830pm and wakes up about 630am. She would walk to her potty when she wakes before she goes downstairs.

This morning Haan took this picture of us and I got so emotional and for the first time, im so glad I get to come home during this pandemic.

Dear @emmalishar, You are turning 3 in 3 months time but yesterday you were just 3 months old when I hugged you to sleep. Yes, many warned me about sleep training but heck, I just want to hold you in my arms, forever if I can.

They said you will be your children's everything up till they are 10, then you will be everything they don't want (😂), true, I can't wait for Emma to be embarrassed of me when I pull a "you're doing great, Honey". To all mums out there, here’s me cheering you on all things you do, for our children and our family. I see you sacrificing your dream to stay home, I see you sacrificing your time to teach, I see you sacrificing your strength to clean. I see you everyday. YOU are seen. You guys are champions and I am so glad to be apart of the team. ❤️
