現在のアメリカの全人口（約3億人）の約４分の１は、1980年代〜1990年代に生まれた「ジェネレーションY」または「ミレニアルズ」と呼ばれれる若者世代が占めていると言われています。そこで今回は、そんな若者たちが日常会話で頻繁に使っている流行り言葉をご紹介いたします。まだ辞書にも定義されていない新しい表現もあるので要チェック！

1) Hangry
→「お腹が空き過ぎてイライラする」
--------------------------------------------------
　
“Hungry（お腹が空く）”と“Angry（イライラする））”を合体させた造語です。あまりにもお腹が空き過ぎてイライラしている状態を表しますが、本気でイライラしているというよりは、冗談で空腹であることを大げさに言う意味合いとして一般的に使われます。「I'm really hungry」や「I'm starving」の代わりに使える表現です。
　
＜例文＞
　
～会話例～

A: I'm almost ready. I just need to do my hair real quick.
（もうすぐ準備ができるから。あとは髪をセットするだけ。）

B: Hurry up! I haven't eaten anything all day. I'm so hangry!
（早くしてよ！今日は一日中何も食べていないんだから。お腹が空き過ぎてイライラしてきた〜。）

2) YAAAS!
→「わ〜い！ / やった〜！ / もちろん！」

“YAAAS”は“Yes”と同じ意味ですが、喜びや嬉しさの感情を強調して表す言い方としてフェイスブックやインスタなどのSMSの世界で広まった表現です。主に若者の間で使われるネット用語ですが、ふざけて日常会話で使われることもしばしばあります。例えば、「Let's go to Disneyland this weekend.（今週末、ディズニーランドに行こう）」の誘いに対し、「YAAAS!」と返事をすることで日本語の「やった〜！」や「もちろん！」を意味し、ディズニーランドへ行くことを本当に楽しみにしている気持ちを表すことになります。
　
✔綴りは「Yaaas!」、「YAASSS!」、「YAAAAASS!!」のように色々あり、正しいスペルはない。その人の感情次第。
　
＜例文＞

A: Do you want to get ice cream after dinner?
（食後にアイスクリームを食べに行かない？）

B: YAAAS! I wanna (want to) go to Creamistry? I love their ice cream.

3) YOLO
→「人生は１度きり」

“YOLO”は「You Only Live Once」の略語で「人生は一度きり」を意味します。ヒップホップ界では有名なラッパー「Drake」が流行らせた表現です。何か新しい事にチャレンジをするときや、リスキーで過激な事にチャレンジする状況で「人生は1回だけだから、将来のことを心配せず今を思いっきり生きて人生を楽しまないと！」といった意味を込めたメッセージとして用いられます。
　
✔SMSでは“YOLO”と略して表すの一般的ですが、日常会話では「You only live once」と略さず言うことも多い。
　
＜例文＞
　
～会話例～

A: You're going to quit your job and travel the world for a few years!?
（仕事を辞めて、数年間、世界旅行するって？）

B: Yup! It's something that I've always wanted to do. YOLO!

4) FOMO
→「楽しいことを逃すことへの不安」

“FOMO”は「Fear of missing out（チャンスを逃すことへの恐怖心）」の略語で、一般的に「楽しい出来事を逃してしまうかもしれない」といった不安な気持ち示す場合に用いられます。仲の良い友達みんなが行くパーティーや飲み会に自分だけ参加できずに「みんながいる場に私だけいない・・・何か楽しいチャンスを逃しちゃうんじゃないかな・・・」のような不安な気持ちを指します。また、フェイスブックなどで友達がイベントの写真をアップし、「え、なんで私だけ誘われなかったの？」のように、周りから取り残された失望感を示す場合にも使われます。
　
＜例文＞
　
～会話例～

A: All my friends are going to Las Vegas this week. They're going to have so much fun. Maybe I should just blow off my job interview and go with them.
（今週、友達がみんなラスベガスに行くんだよね。めっちゃ楽しいんだろうな。仕事の面接をすっぽかして一緒に行こうかな。）

B: What are you talking about? You have a bad case of FOMO. I'm sure you guys will go to Vegas again. You better go to your interview!
（何言ってんの？本当あなたはひどいFOMO症だね。またいつか、みんなでベガスに行く機会はあるだろうし、ちゃんと面接に行きなよ！）

5) Bae
→「ベイビー」

“Bae”は「Before anyone else（誰より先に）」の略語で、主に若者が彼氏や彼女を呼びかける時に“baby”の代わりに使うになった流行語です。例えば、「I love you Bae」と言うと「誰よりも先に君のことを愛している」といったニュアンスになります。使い方は“baby”と“babe”と同じです。
　
＜例文＞
　
A: I love you Bae!
（愛しているよ、ベイビー！）

B: Eww! Don't ever call me Bae again. You're too old to use that.
（きもっ！もう二度と私を「Bae」なんて呼ばんといてや。自分、そんなこと言う年齢ちゃうやろ。）

6) Cray
→「やばいね！すごいね！」

状況によって若干意味は異なりますが、基本的に意味と使い方は“Crazy”と全く同じで、「やばいね」や「すごいね」、「信じられない」や「あり得ない」などの意味として若者の間で用いられています。「This party is about to get cray cray!（かなりやばいパーティーになりそう！）」のように、より強調した言い方として「Cray cray」と２回続けて言うこともあります。
　
✔一般的に女性が使うスラング。

～会話例～

A: Oh my god! Did you just down that whole bottle of shochu? You're so cray!
（え！あの焼酎のボトルを一気飲みしたの？ありえない！）

B: Yup! It's party time! YOLO!

7) Bromance
→「男同士の親密な友情」

“Bromance”は“Brother（兄弟）”と“Romance（ロマンス）”を合体させた造語で口語的な表現になります。性的関係が一切ないものの、男同士が頻繁にハグをしたり、2人ですごく楽しそうに会話をするなど、周りから見るとちょっと気持ち悪いと思うほどの男同士の親密な友情関係を指します。「兄弟のように仲が良い」と解釈するといいでしょう。
　
✔男同士の友情のみ。女同士の関係では使えない。
　
＜例文＞

A: I seriously love you man! You're the best!
（お前は本当にいい奴だな！最高だ！）

B: It looks like you two really got a bromance going on. You guys need some time alone?

8) Man-crush
→「男性が他の男性に対する憧れの気持ち」

誰かに一目惚れしたり片思いすることを意味する“Have a crush”がルーツとなった表現です。男性が他の男性に憧れや敬愛の気持ちを抱くことを表し、“Bromance”同様、性的な感情は全くありません。一般的にプロスポーツ選手や俳優、歌手などへの憧れの感情に対して用いられますが、有名人だけと言うわけではありません。
　
✔最近では、女性が他の女性に対する憧れの気持ちを「Woman-crush」と言われるようにもなった。
　
✔月曜日は「#MCM（Man Crush Monday）」、水曜日は「#WCW（Woman crush Wednesday）」とハッシュタッグを使って憧れの男性や女性の写真を投稿するのがSMS上で流行っている。
　
＜例文＞

A: I'm not gonna (going to) lie. I've got a man-crush on George Clooney. That dude looks amazing for his age!
（ぶっちゃけ、俺はジョージ・クルーニーに憧れているね。あの年齢にして、あの格好良さは最高だよ！）

B: If you want to look like him, you better start hitting the gym and cutting down on your beers.

[What I eat in a day? 我一天吃什麼？] Yesterday was a cardio and delts training day, controlled carb intake during daytime to save for the later feast that night.

Breakfast 早餐：instant original flavoured chicken breast from hana-musubi + some nuts (cashew and pecan to serve with my black coffee) 華御結即食原味雞胸+堅果（腰果及碧根果配上我的黑咖啡）

Lunch 午餐：steamed red rice + choy sum + spinach + chicken breast (smoked paprika flavoured) 蒸紅米飯 + 菜心 + 菠菜+煙燻辣椒粉調味雞胸 very small portion of rice but i don't feel hungry post cardio and i ate the large portion of veggies first 飯量很少但帶氧後吃和先吃菜的話不會感到很餓

Snacks after lunch 午餐後點心：as usual! chocolate brownie ice cream (whey protein powder mix with unsweetened almond milk) + almond butter + black coffee 與平常一樣巧克力布朗尼雪糕（蛋白粉與無糖杏仁奶拌勻）+ 杏仁醬 + 黑咖啡

Pre-workout meal 練前餐：10g of red rice😂(i need some carb before training to give me energy, even for a little bit) + choy sum + a hard boiled egg 10克紅米飯😂（我練前需要點碳水，不然沒力舉）+菜心+烚蛋

Post-workout 練後補充：7-11 achim original flavoured chicken breast, if u know, it is so bad the texture is horrible but i was just too hungry and craving food hahahaha 原味即食雞胸，太餓太需要吃點東西，但這個真的好難吃，口感簡直是災難

Dinner 晚餐：too lazy to take pics sorry - choy sum + coke zero + pan fried beef + scallops with 0 kcal oil + brown rice + sneaked 3 pieces of healthy chicken breasts chips 太懶沒認真拍照 - 菜心+ 無糖可樂+ 0卡油煎牛肉帶子+偷吃了3片雞胸薯片

Snacks before bed 睡前點心：loads of pb (to meet my fat goal) 大量花生醬!!!!

From the bottom of my heart, I’m so happy and grateful for all of the love, truly I can’t thank you enough.

A lot of things have been happening to me these past few months, whether it’s good or bad, I’ve learned to be grateful for the little things and learned to change my perspective towards things in a different way.

Throughout my life so far, at this age I’ve met a lot of amazing people from different walks of life and I’m forever grateful that I get to learn a thing or two from these amazingly wonderful people, even though it is for a short period of time, I’m happy to have stumbled upon them truly.

Despite whatever that we’re currently going through, I got the opportunity to spend my quarantine with my family and that doesn’t happen often. For 3 years, I’ve been wanting to have a proper Ice Cream Cake for my birthday but never really got the chance to get it but Alhamdulilah 2021, finally got it! Thanks Kak, Sabrina, Abah and Mama. Infact I’d call my friends virtually via Zoom Calls & Google Meet, we’d call & talk, laugh till it’s 4/5AM in the morning, I missed all of them truly

I even got the opportunity to spend my birthday with some of the #FAIZIES which I didn’t expect it to happen at all, they really did surprised me and it means the world to be receiving that, Thanks guys. It’s a memory that I’ll remember always and forever. You guys made my day truly, I love all of you.

As I grow, I believe that we’ll never stop learning as we live and as we grow we will keep meeting new obstacles in life that’ll make us wonder and think. Furthermore, I believe that from these obstacles that we’ve all went through, it’ll mold us into better & stronger individuals, as we grow. Moving on, Letting go of things that it is beyond our control

?? We're at the Vietnam-Chinese border, on the Vietnamese side, that is! This is the city of Mong Cai. It all started off great, with a nice meal of noodles at a Chinese restaurant chain. After that Max and I went to search for ice cream, which was someone of a failure. Due to that we decided to switch gears and get milk tea. Little did we know we would meet a stupid customer calling us "covid". But it's okay, it sure did feel good to turn around and tell her to her face that I knew exactly what she was saying. She sure was surprised, embarrassed, and at a loss for words. Hopefully it teaches her not to assume things about people next time :)
