Amazing energy fills the room when women come together. We’ve wrapped up the first series of Creative Expression Workshops with the caregivers at our #BaumhausCommunity !
How did this happen? The NGO @kids4kidshk paired me with Lakshmi and Pranisha, two youth leaders who wanted to run their #ActionForACause project. They took the time to learn more about the stories and challenges of migrant women in Hong Kong.
Our @baumhaushk team helped with organising and mobilising, and before long, we had enlisted to support of migrant women leaders and other industry professionals to provide engaging workshops.
The very talented Noemi & Cristina from #GuhitKulay led the workshops on visual arts, while amazing singer-musician Ela Allegre taught the basics of vocal performance. I had the chance to lead my own Drama workshop, which is always exciting for me.
Last but not least, our most attended workshop was led by acclaimed photographer @leehannhidalgo — whose work you may be so familiar with, as these grace many events, organisational materials, and are even featured in the film “Still Human.”
A special thanks to Dr. Mike Manio for taking the time to share your experiences with us about supporting mental health and well-being. We were all definitely inspired.
Thank you also to the Bayanihan Centre which provided us with their venue.
This won’t be the last of our workshops. Outside of our business, #BaumhausHK has been running community initiatives since our opening in 2015. We are now creating regular opportunities for the empowerment of parents, caregivers, and children in different areas in Hong Kong.
