Sometimes, things are heavy because they aren’t ours to carry. Give that shit back. Helloo Monday!!
TW: Sexual Violence
Waheyyy! International Women’s Day is coming up. Here’s to us not carrying guilt for things that aren’t/weren’t our fault. And to a world that stops raising young children, girls especially, to think they should. God. I wish I’d learnt the difference.
It is not our responsibility to “help” another human being control their urge to violate our body. For example, you can’t “help” an abuser not hit you by “not saying stupid things”. They need to learn that it is not ok to abuse or violate somebody else. This needs to be taught and deeply ingrained. And I really don’t understand why Matthew 18:9 just isn’t quoted as much?
I have, without a doubt, slut shamed, victim blamed, been sexist, before. Without a shadow of a doubt. I probably still unknowingly do that now. It’s hard to undo all the programming. And i hate that that was what I learnt. Essentially, that if I did “enough”, they would go to the next person. But it has nothing to do with what you do/don’t do, and everything to do with what they believe they have the right to do to somebody else.
“There will always be a girl who is less sober, less secure, with less friends walking in a darker part of town. I want her safe as much as I want me safe.”

Who said?
“By 25, get married.”
“By 30, have a child.”
“Oh, only one child?”
“Have two children.”
Who said all of this?
It’s all constructed.
I was going to say garbage but I’m going to be respectful.
We’re living in this system without ever questioning.
And those of us who question are silenced, and shamed and ostracized, and we live in fear of being outcast, and outlier-ed.
To dare to be awake is to burst the bubble.
To not look at the elephant in the room and go “aha, I caught you”.
It’s to get out of the building.
To see through the prescriptions we’ve lived with, succumbed to, enslaved by, encaptured within.
And to break free of them.
And as we break free, we allow others to be set free.
And most of all, we allow our children, we don’t impose upon them the good and bad, and the right and wrong, and the shame and guilt that we were induced, entranced by.

🥵Sex has always been such a taboo topic, especially growing up in an Asian household. Women are constantly shamed for staying safe and carrying condoms, even in 2020! It's ridiculous to even think that trying to be safe is a problem. A part of my Quarantine Reflections have been to break these stigmas, and to be able to have discussions about safe sex in an open environment, especially for women. ✨
This is more than just an #ad, this is a movement worth fighting for 🔥 If you too believe in good and safe sex, then share this, to let people know that protecting yourself is not something to be embarrassed about, but, rather something to be proud of! ☺️

I don't talk bad about people, or give haters any attention, but I wanted to share about the time I was body-shamed and fat-shamed on national TV.
I know Asia's Next Top Model S1 aired years ago, but it is suddenly viral right now on YouTube and my friends sent it to me yesterday. So I decided to react to it because I want to bring awareness that it's not okay to fat-shame or body-shame people.
It really hurt me, and made me so insecure about my body and my height. I feel shame that I couldn't stand up for myself back then. So I just don't want anyone else to feel hurt from being body-shamed or fat-shamed.
I saw some people tagged her in the comments, and I've been deleting them because I don't want you guys to attack her. I don't condone attacking her or anyone. We're better than that, okay. If you're *following me, we stand for spreading LOVE and POSITIVE ENERGY!
I feel like some of my followers might not know, I was on Asia's Next Top Model Season 1 hehe. Please be kind okay, it's so hard to relive this and rewatch my bullying, because there's still a lot of unresolved hurt.

Hey everyone!! Sorry for last week's technical mishap that stopped me from being able to upload my weekly video, but thank you so much for all your patience - it's back to regular programming now!
In this video, I talk about three “diets” that I’ve tried and failed at when I was trying to lose weight, and I explain a bit about why they weren’t helpful. WATCH TO THE END to find out what diet really worked for me and what will 100% WORK FOR YOU. Hope you guys enjoy this video, I just really hope you guys can avoid making the same (sometimes painful) mistakes that I made in the past by learning from my errors. Lots of love xx
DISCLAIMER: I am not a nutrition expert. This is an account of the diets I tried and the reasons why they didn’t work for me that I came to understand through research (and is explained in a simple, generic way in this video).

Q: Have you ever felt shamed because of your body size? As it's not 'normal' girl size, no offense.
I was asked this question a while back on Instagram and think it's a great question to open discussion on what a healthy body image is. To me there's no such thing as ‘normal’ size for a girl or guy. The perception of normal is based on what we have been told is normal and that comes from what you consume/watch in the media and who you’re associating with. In my earlier years, I used to think I didn't fit in because I was perhaps not what some may think as ‘normal’ for a girl = small, slender, dainty. I was a chubby kid growing up and when I got into the entertainment line, i was critiqued further cause I didn’t "fit" to what media wanted. I remember on a hosting job, someone said to me "Oh Linora, she isn’t your typical 'beauty queen' but she has a great personality". This sure did wonders for my self worth. ?
I'm glad I have now redefined beauty for myself. It comes with self acceptance, educating oneself and making zero comparisons.
I'm glad the media space is changing on how we view beauty but remember to always feed your mind with positive messages and be wise with what content you consume.
