雞煲火鍋飲食宜忌
近年流行吃雞煲火鍋,先吃味道香濃的雞煲,然後加湯成湯底,繼續打邊爐大快朵頤。雞煲主要材料為雞件,配以薑、蔥、蔥頭、蒜頭、洋蔥、芫茜等配料,再加上多種醬料炒製而成,從中醫角度來看,雞性溫,能補益氣血和暖胃,適合氣血虛弱、陽虛及虛寒體質人士食用,常見症狀為面色偏白、容易頭暈、氣短、皮膚乾燥等。除了雞,雞煲中的配料亦是屬性溫熱的食材,如果本身是濕熱或陰虛體質、容易上火人士,進食雞煲情況猶如火上加油,會加重口乾口苦、出暗瘡、體味重、便秘等症狀。
雖然雞煲比較適合氣血虛弱人士食用,但要注意避免用雞煲的湯來灼煮蔬菜,因為雞煲湯底非常油膩,用來灼蔬菜只會成為吸油工具,不如之後再多喝水、吃蔬菜、水果平衡過來。

Chicken hotpot has recently become a trend, as diners could enjoy the well-seasoned hotpot first, followed by the complementary soup. It consists of chicken, ginger, shallot, onion, garlic, red onion and coriander. A mixture of sauces is added to these ingredients, which are then stir fried accordingly.
From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, chicken is warm in nature, can nourish the qi and the blood as well as warm the stomach; is suitable for individuals with asthenic qi and blood, and those with yang and cold deficiency problems. People with these conditions normally exhibit symptoms such as pale complexion, dizziness, shortness of breath and dry skin.
Apart from chicken, the ingredients in the hotpot are also warm in nature. It would be like adding fuel to the fire for individuals with a damp-heat or yin-deficient body conditions, or people who are prone to heat related symptoms, if they consume it. It will also aggravate conditions such as dry mouth and mouth with a bitter aftertaste, acne, unpleasant body odor and constipation.
Though chicken hotpot is suitable for individuals who are weak in the qi and blood, avoid using the soup in the hotpot to blanch vegetables because the soup is extremely oily, and will be absorbed by the vegetables. Eating some fruits and vegetables only after you have had your chicken hotpot would be a better option.

怒氣傷肝易頭痛
有人經常被頭痛纏擾,一痛就痛幾小時甚至一整天,一星期幾次,吃止痛藥只是治標不治本的方法,想根治的話還是要找出根本原因。如果頭痛屬於脹痛型,伴隨頭暈、耳鳴、口乾、面色泛紅、大便乾結、心煩易怒、睡不安寧等症狀,接近下班時候或情緒波動時頭痛加劇,多屬於肝陽上亢型頭痛,肝臟負責疏理人體氣血及津液的運行,生活節奏急速、工作壓力大、情緒緊張鬱悶憤怒都會影響體內肝氣運行,以致肝火上炎,擾動清竅而出現頭痛、頭暈症狀。
想改善症狀就要平肝潛陽,補肝陰之不足,令肝臟陰陽得以回復平衡,適量進食具清肝火功效的食物,例如菊花、綠茶、芹菜、苦瓜、枸杞葉等。更要避免熬夜,因為凌晨1至3時為肝的值班時間,這段時間睡覺可以讓肝進行修護工作。如果症狀未能改善就要看中醫對症下藥!
夏枯草菊花茶
功效:疏散風熱、清肝明目,紓緩肝火上炎引致的頭痛、頭暈等症狀。
材料:菊花6克、夏枯草9克
做法:材料洗淨,加入800毫升水以武火煮滾後轉文火煮30分鐘即可。此茶煮後倒入保溫瓶,反覆沖泡至味淡。
Anger hurts the liver and may lead to headaches
Some people often suffer from headaches, and the pain can last for hours or even a whole day, several times a week. Painkillers treat the symptoms but does not address the root cause. If you want to get better, you need to find the cause. If the headache is a type of distended pain, accompanied by dizziness, tinnitus, dry mouth, red complexion, dry stools, irritability, poor sleep quality and other symptoms, and the headache is usually triggered towards end of work or by sudden mood change, it is likely related to hyperactivity of the liver yang. The liver is responsible for regulating the circulation of human qi, blood and body fluids. The rapid pace of life, high work pressure, emotional tension, depression, and anger will affect the circulation of liver qi, leading to liver heat which can cause headache and dizziness.
To improve the symptoms, you should calm the liver and suppress yang to balance the yin and yang of the liver. Appropriately consume ingredients that can clear liver heat, such as chrysanthemum, green tea, celery, bitter gourd, wolfberry leaves. Do not stay up late as the liver is on duty from 1 to 3am. Sleeping during this period allows the liver to perform repair work. It is better to consult a Chinese medicine practitioner if symptoms do not improve.
Chrysanthemum tea with prunella vulgaris
Effects: dispels wind and heat, nourishes liver and improves vision, relieves symptoms such as headache and dizziness caused by liver heat
Ingredients: 6g chrysanthemum, 9g prunella vulgaris
Preparation: rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Combine all ingredients with 800ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Pour all contents into a thermos and tea can re-brewed until flavor weakens.

Ingredients: 3g jasmine, 6g albizia flower, appropriate amounts of honey
Preparation: rinse all dry ingredients thoroughly and place into thermos, rinse with hot water once. Then add in hot water again and steep for 5 minutes until aroma develops. Add honey to taste. You can re-brew until its flavor weakens.
