Truly a pleasure and honour!
University life in Canada was one of the greatest experiences I’ve had in my life that value-added so much of my being today— I am for sure too nice/polite for my own good (it was especially tough being nice in China 😂), I learnt the importance of being green, turned into a huge foodie and a health enthusiast at the same time (if that’s even possible), valued outdoor activities so much more (summers in Vancouver is a dream 😍), made friends from so many walks of life, and oh I guess I also learnt a great deal about finance, economics and a lot of how the world works.
Campus life was one I dreamt about growing up in Malaysia with western media exposure and it really was an exhilarating experience! At my final semester during the summer, I worked 2 jobs and was at school full-time but I still had time for weekend volunteer work at my Church’s nursery, attended every beach barbecue I was invited to and threw multiple house parties— still graduated with a 3.75GPA (A- average) ✌🏻 Pretty sure I was working hard and playing hard before it was a meme 😅
Immersing in another country’s culture and philosophies not only helped me grow in my worldly knowledge but also helped me learn to appreciate my own country’s unique culture.
I will always be grateful for the opportunity my father gave to me to study abroad; and I hope to bestow the same fortuity to my future children 🥰

隨著中國在海外面對更不友好,更多學生嚮往中共治下生活。 #加拿大
In the physical sense, Katrina Jiang has lived in Canada for nearly 12 years. But in many ways, she has never left China. She does not pay much attention to news or entertainment in Canada; she doesn’t so much as have a Netflix account. Instead, “100 per cent” of her media intake comes from China: celebrities on Weibo, shows on iQiyi, short videos on Douyin. “I know I have been here for a long time. I came when I was 14,” she says. “But I feel like I’m still connected to China, to Chinese culture and Chinese entertainment.” She feels the disconnect most keenly at work, where she has little to add to conversations about local events or the Blue Jays. She worries that distance from coworkers will limit her career advancement, and is mulling a return home. “I see a kind of ceiling here,”, she says. “In Canada, your soft skills can’t really compete with native speakers. You have to know their culture, you have to know their entertainment, and you have to chat to make connections. It’s hard for us if we don’t grow up in that environment.”

🎉🎉🎉“Samsara Ep1.” Puts Taiwan On the Map! New Media Artist Hsin-Chien Huang Wins the Top Awards of SXSW🏆🏆🏆🥳
The awards ceremony of the American international film festival, South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW), will be held in the morning on March 20, 2021. The latest VR production created by artist Hsin-Chien Huang has taken the festival by storm and bring home the prestigious “Jury Awards” in the virtual cinema competition category. “Samsara Ep. 1” is the first VR production from Taiwan to receive such honor and has put the creativity of Taiwan on the map!
In the acceptance speech, Huang mentioned that he would like to thank the jury of SXSW for the recognition and encouragement. It was absolutely his honor to win this award. He’d also like to thank the full support from the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan 文化部, the Taiwan Creative Content Agency 文化內容策進院 Taiwan Creative Content Agency , and Kaohsiung Film Archive 高雄市電影館 VR 體感劇院 VR FILM LAB to make it possible to complete the work. Finally, he thanked all the crew members of the production for letting the world see how amazing the VR production from Taiwan.
The story background of “Samsara” is set as a timeline when humans completely destroyed the environment on earth and begin to go on a quest through space for hundreds of years. People try to immigrant to a new planet, so they redesign the DNA to adapt to a new environment and evolve into a new life form. However, after so many years, people gradually realize that it is never possible to find a new planet to settle. They merely keep returning to the original earth they have damaged in a different era, in a different life form, as an endless circle of reincarnation.
The plot involves many different social issues, including ecology, technology, natural resource, and war, and calls on viewers to reflect themselves with a profound philosophical perspective. Moreover, several concepts of embodied cognition are used in the story to make viewers transform into different animals, including Taiwan’s indigenous species, such as Taiwan Blue Magpie and Formosan Black Bear, to interact with the scenes. “Samsara Ep.1” also features the latest somatosensory technology, including the 4Dviews shooting techniques by the Industrial Technology Research Institute and Taiwan Creative Content Agency, with 48 4DV-EX-Z cameras and a digital shooting system composed of a high-sensitivity 4 million-pixel full-color CCD sensor. “Samsara Ep.1” is able to be taken from an omnidirectional view without blind spots and be shot without any blind spots to create the ultimate immersive experience.
The first SXSW was held in Austin, Texas in 1987. This long-standing international event is held around March every year ever since. The festival features various themes, such as films, music, VR/AR, art and games, etc. The SXSW is the world’s largest event for creative content. Many creators and brand owners in the fields will not miss out on the festival. Therefore, the festival has become a trial balloon, attracting hundreds of bands and film crews to participate, estimated over 400,000 people joining the event. This year, the festival has changed the event to an online form for the first time since the pandemic is raging as before. All screening events, industry matchmaking, seminars will be carried out via its own online platform, SXSW Online, without difficulty. It has made it possible for all the artists, creators, and professionals to break down the physical borders and participate in this magnificent annual event together.
There are nine productions in total nominated in the Virtual Cinema Competition category this year, with teams from the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Poland, Australia, South Korea, and so on. This is the first time that “Samsara Ep.1” has competed in the international film festival and has achieved a great result with much international recognition. This is also the first time for Taiwanese production to receive an award from the SXSW competition. The full version of “Samsara” is expected to start the global tour in the second half of the year. Huang said that “Samsara” would return to Taiwan for its Asian premiere and ask the fans in Taiwan to stay tuned!

This is my challenge to learn to speak French in 12 hours on a livestream. I am a complete beginner and have never studied any French before. I have set up back-to-back conversations with French tutors from around the world (including from France, Canada, Cameroon, and Senegal) and I’m going to do my best to try and learn as much French as possible in one continuous 12 hour livestream, which is the longest YouTube allows you to stream and save it as a video afterwards. This video will showcase my raw process of language learning. I’m curious to see how much I can learn to speak conversationally by the end of this video, but I also think this will be a useful 12-hour long French class if you’re looking to learn French from scratch! So come study with me!
If you would like to get in touch with the French tutors I learned with today, here is their contact information in order of when they appeared in the video. Most of them have Italki pages where you can directly book time to learn languages.

the bag vlog was very popular
so to continue we have a Chanel... STRAP hahahaha
Sarah:Jason loves buying cameras... just love to spend actually? so the moment Fujifilm brought out a new camera, he said he'd buy it for me.... hmmm....
Jason: In all fairness, Sarah did say she wanted one for so long!
the story behind the camera isn't quite as memorable as the bag stories, and suppose getting a new camera right now is a little pointless, since we're home all the time...
but it's nice to film a variety of things, and the new camera is well worth talking about.
the Covid-19 virus is spreading all over the world, and with family and friends in England, Australia, Canada, different parts of Asia and the US, it's very worrying.
we constantly remind loved ones not to feel bad that they're wearing a face mask or if they seem to be using hand sanitiser excessively...
each country will have their own set protocol to deal with the situation, but it's all the same really... keep your hands clean, don't touch your face, avoid crowds, stay home etc...
we do have a mask wearing culture in Hong Kong, so everyone's going to do that if they have a mask.
only wearing a mask if you're sick? the experts, the doctors have been saying this for ages now, some people have the virus but don't display symptoms... so how do you know you';ve caught it? feeling fine, having no fever, not coughing doesn't mean you haven't caught the virus.
just protect yourselves how you can, look after yourself and look after each other❤️
let us know what else you wanna see
love you all!!!

@Emilie Reigne is back for one last video in Taiwan. It was so nice having her here to visit. We made the most of it and headed into the mountains to the Maolin National Scenic Area, where we learned all about the migrating butterfly species, had a traditional aboriginal lunch, and then explored a beautiful village nestled in the mountains.
