The curator at The Tank Museum has told Forces News it would be a mistake if the British Army decided to get rid of its tanks.
It follows reports that military chiefs are considering plans to scrap the Army's fleet of Challenger 2 tanks and Warrior armoured fighting vehicles.

One hundred years of British tank development sit side by side at The Tank Museum back in 2016. The Mark IV, on the left, looks as it did when it went to war in 1917 (although this is a replica). In action vehicles could be fitted with an unditching beam or fascine on the roof. On the right is the British Army's Challenger 2 fitted with the Theatre Entry Standard enhancements. These are added to the basic vehicle when it deploys on operations, and improve the crew and vehicle’s protection, situational awareness and camouflage.
