「我在作畫時注意到，即使在黝暗的陰影中，依然有大量光線存在！這裡的關鍵在於營造出光線和光芒的效果，而且又不失豐富色彩的深度。一片深紅棕色的土地沐浴在秋日傍晚的斜陽光輝中，而這光線又因為穿過樹間而更顯柔和；實在無法想像有哪塊華麗地毯的光采能更甚於此。」- 梵谷書信選
午後時分的森林實在太美了。出發前雖然提議出說要在森林裡畫畫，也僅只是在腦海裡構想，直到真的踏入森林，畫具一切準備就緒，顏料在陽光下閃耀時，腦海浮現好多西洋美術史的記憶片段。兩人繪畫到一半時，忽然被一群雞圍繞，天阿！這好農家，好像楓丹白露畫派所描述的生活！
