Not Impressed by the Reputations of Men
“God had given me a clear revelation to go and confer with the other apostles concerning the message of grace I was preaching to the non-Jewish people. I spoke privately with those who were viewed as senior leaders of the church. I wanted to make certain that my labor and ministry for the Messiah had not been based on a false understanding of the gospel...Even the most honored and esteemed among the brothers were not able to add anything to my message. Who they are before men makes no difference to me, for God is not impressed by the reputations of men.” (Galatians 2:2, 6 TPT)
I love the apostle Paul’s mindset. He was not ‘starstruck’ by Peter, James, and John.
Whereas others would have been intimidated by the fame and reputation of the apostles in Jerusalem, Paul wasn’t.
He was led by God to go and meet them, and the only reason he wanted to speak with them was to confirm that he was preaching the correct Gospel.
Paul valued praise from God, not the praises of men.
If God is not impressed by the reputations of men, then as His children we shouldn’t be impressed too.
There is no need to feel intimidated when speaking to someone with a glorified title.
“When he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, they were watching him.” (Luke 14:1 WEB)
Jesus went to a party where the most respected Pharisees were, and He still spoke straightforwardly, without mincing His words. He was not afraid to speak the truth, even if it offended reputable men.
“He spoke a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the best seats, and said to them, “When you are invited by anyone to a marriage feast, don’t sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable than you might be invited by him, and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, ‘Make room for this person.’ Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place. But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” He also said to the one who had invited him, “When you make a dinner or a supper, don’t call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back. But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind; and you will be blessed, because they don’t have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous.”” (Luke 14:7-14 WEB)
Jesus’ words above are essentially meaning that the guests at the party were pretentious hypocrites, all trying to curry favor with the rich and famous. Think about how offensive these words would be to most people at the party.
We are a new creation in Christ in contrast to the children of Adam. We are the new and improved version 2.0. Children of Adam are transgressors, whereas children of God are royal priests and heirs of His estate.
Even the wealthiest unbeliever is only like a piece of firewood, due to be thrown in the unquenchable fires of Hell when he dies.
As for speaking to fellow believers, God’s word says that we are one in Christ and that titles don’t matter—we are all of equal standing. We are all saved by one Lord, born-again of the same Spirit, and none of us earned this salvation—it’s all by grace through faith.
“For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26-28 WEB)
Don’t get me wrong, Paul respected the office of apostle which Peter, James, and John held. These positions are given by God. Paul also teaches us to respect the governing bodies and submit to them for the Lord’s sake.
We should also respect our leaders in church for the sake of the offices that they hold since they are ordained by God. Give them proper honor for the sake of the office. Submit to those who have the authority over us, as this authority was given by God.
However, we don’t need to fear reputable men. You don’t have to shrink back, feeling like you are somehow less important, less worthy, or less loved. God loves you even as (as much as) He loves Jesus—that’s how important you are to Him!
If people abuse their office of authority and mistreat you, they themselves will be accountability for it before Jesus. Maybe their eternal rewards will be given to you instead, to restore you for the injustice.
“Jesus answered, “You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me to you has greater sin.”” (John 19:11 WEB)
No one can harm you when God is protecting you. Men have no power of their own. Therefore, be bold and have confidence in Christ. Straighten your shoulders and back, and raise your chin up. Be set free from the fear of reputations of men!
I shared more about the time when Jesus went to that Pharisee’s party in my book “Messiah’s Miracles: The Power of Having Faith in Jesus Christ”. Did you know that He healed a man with dropsy there? There is a spectacular lesson in it. See God’s Grace and love towards you in all the 37 recorded miracles of Jesus Christ, and let faith arise for your own supernatural breakthroughs: https://bit.ly/messiahs-miracles

And I should like to change places with you.

Why?

This is a wonderful world. If you only knew how I envy you! Some are lost in the crowd, unhappy, while to one out of a million, as to you, for instance, comes a bright destiny full of interest and meaning. You are lucky.

I, lucky? I hear you talking about fame and happiness, and bright destinies, and those fine words of yours mean as much to me -forgive my saying so- as sweetmeats do, which I never eat. You are very young, and very kind.

Is that it?
I’m askin
I’m living my dreams
I’m lost, I know
Still tryna find my door
My arms were cold
I lost my mind my soul
I need answers
But I’ll never get to know
No name
Now they know the name
Why?
But I felt guilt in this fame
Don’t know what to do
So I just 分享大家的音樂在限時動態
what the fuck is wrong with me?
I’m so tired to think
And when you finally made it 大家都巴著你
Man this shut ugly
I’d rather be a no name
Cuz I don’t rlly want no money want no fame
I’d rather be a no name
想等到那一天沒人指指點點who’s the realist mothafuka breathin
This fuckin path
要確定 you gotta keep your main thing
Don’t focus on the fame nor the pain
Goddammit I don’t know.
Now they all hatin on me
Present day I’m walking lonely
Now, where’s your friends at?
It’s funny how people see things
When I said I made it
Yea that’s great..
There’s no more meaning
What do I do it for?
I think I need more reasons
I’d rather be a no name
Cuz I don’t rlly want no money want no fame
I’d rather be a no name
想等到那一天沒人指指點點who’s the realist mothafuka breathin

Look at me and listen
Don’t be conceited by your fame
Cos money and fame don’t last
It can crumble if you don’t come down off your high horse
Confident that you’re all that
Arrogant with your ego
Dissin on others like they’re inferior
Bragging about making it
Hell, one day you might fall, who knows
Put it in that thick skull of yours
Nobody is better than anybody
Looking at people like they are trash and you are King
Can get you crushed like you are nothing
Give others a chance
Fool, you ain’t no King
Sneering at the underdog with that face of yours
Actin like you own it all is fuckin embarrassing
No respect is the only outcome you’ll get
Use you head, power that you gain
Don’t use it to beat and kill others to dust
Brag, boast, block, bastardize
When you fall off your horse all you’ll hear is this
hahaha hahaha...
You might be good but don’t be big headed
Give other people a chance
Don’t get carried away with pride
Popularity and glory
Be realistic, there’s up and there’s always down
Think it over, the life that you built
Being kind to others
Will give it more meaning
When you die
Friends and all
Will keep you in their memories
A hot sunny day could end in with rain
Fame can perish, it’s just a cycle, is what I’m told
Accept it, accept it, accept it
Don’t be misguided, don’t be misguided
Facts of life is death and life
Get a grip, don’t lose yourself
Don’t, don’t, don’t hate, no don’t
No, no don’t loathe, don’t judge
Replace it with love, kindness, generosity and friendliness
Take the big out of the head and put it in the heart
Don’t stand in the way
If someone is down
show them the light
Help them find the way
Pull them out from the dark
Don’t just ignore and walk pass
When it’s your turn to fall you’ll be left with nobody
And this will be the voice that haunts you
hahahaha hahahaha…
I have lived the underdog’s life
Won’t budge with the fame along the way
Because nothing lasts forever
Sleep, wake up, life, death
it’s destined to be
When you have honour
Power and fortune
What you preach and say
To others will always go.
One day it’s gone
The pride that you use to own
Not only people
Dogs won’t even throw you a bone

King

It’s been said that “space exploration is a force unto itself”, a statement that can aptly be applied to the experience of music discovery. A purveyor of a music with that timeless quality, Ferry Corsten actioned himself into taking his own artist exploration deeper with his fifth artist album. Entitled ‘Blueprint’ because of his technical approach to this latest studio outing. This newest longplayer by the Rotterdam native was spawned from an idea to unite the music with a storyline that stretches beyond a nebulous lyrical theme. Combining his love for the art of screenwriting and film score Ferry has crafted ‘Blueprint’ as a concept release to put a wider perspective on his musical vision.
Transcending any referential genre, ‘Blueprint’s storyline centres around two protagonists in Lukas and the extra-terrestrial being Vee. From a discovery to a bond to consciousness to interdimensional travel, ‘Blueprint’ embarks on a journey across the galaxy asking many questions from its listeners.
Encapsulated in the soundtrack is a musical narrative that entwines with a storyboard crafted by the minds of David H Miller (of House Of Cards and Rosewood fame) and Ferry himself. The resulting effort gives the listener a conceptual direction that is breathtakingly beautiful. Narrated by Hollywood actor Campbell Scott (known for The Amazing Spider-Man and The Exorcism of Emily Rose), whose voice unravels the mystery of ‘Blueprint’s storyline.
Written into the musical code of the album we learn that from the deepest edges of space ‘The Drum’ can be heard, endlessly repeating, without any understanding as to its reason or purpose. None of the greatest minds on earth nor governmental superpower can decipher its existence. Except one. As the listener journeys from the opening track to the last the album chronicles the voyage of Lukas and Vee as a new world is opened to not just the mind but the heart.
With its opening title track ‘Blueprint’ the album commences in wondrous form straddling euphoria and seduction at its heart, as it shoots for the stars setting up for a cosmic ballet. The atmospherical payoff of ‘Venera (Vee’s Theme)’ is enchantingly uplifting, as listeners have their first encounter with Vee. The vocal of Eric Lumiere adds depth to the character’s arrival with ‘Something To Believe In’ before ‘Edge Of The Skye’, featuring Haliene, ignites an odyssey to ‘A World Beyond’. The weaving metronomic build of ‘Trust’ is industriously rich and perfectly poised for this interstellar exploration. Whilst the otherworldly tones of ‘Lonely Inside’ beam us into the isolation of Space and renders all meaning beyond one emotion, desire. The sentiment on Haliene’s voice pierces through on the tense ‘Piece of You’ before we head into the third act and encounter “The Drum” again on ‘Drum's A Weapon’. The album majestically concludes with the beautiful combo of Haliene & Eric Lumiere on ‘Another Sunrise’ and the ‘Eternity’ with its Shepherd scale-esque splendour.
With the narrative that gives nods to the proses of iconic sci-fi authors such as Jules Verne, Hugo Gernsback and most distinctively HG Wells, whilst sharing familiarities with modern day shows such as The OA, Westworld and retro Sci-fi-fest Stranger Things, ‘Blueprint’ is an explorative piece of work that puts Sci-fi at its interstellar core. A brave and unique studio release from one of the most iconic artists in the electronic scene but Ferry’s attempts with ‘Blueprint’ are simply to bring a wider perspective to the listener, as he aims the album to be inclusive of dimensions of religion, history, ideals and science fiction.
