ทีมพัฒนาเกม Zynga ได้ประกาศปิดตัว FarmVille ตำนานเกมแนว Social Farm Simulation บนแพลตฟอร์ม Facebook และมือถือ iOS กับ Android อย่างเป็นทางการ หลังจากเปิดให้บริการมานานกว่า 11 ปี

แม้ทีมงานไม่ได้เปิดเผยสาเหตุการปิดบริการเกม FarmVille อย่างชัดเจน แต่ก็สามารถคาดเดาได้ว่าทีมงานต้องการให้ผู้เล่นย้ายไปเล่น Farmville 2: Tropic Escape และ FarmVille 3 บนมือถือ หลังจากเกมภาคแรกไม่ได้มีการอัปเดตคอนเทนต์มานานมาก ซึ่งทำให้ทีมงานคิดว่าเป็นช่วงเหมาะสมแล้วที่ต้องปิดบริการเกมดังกล่าว หลังจากตัวเกมเปิดให้บริการมาตั้งแต่ปี 2009 จนถึงปัจจุบัน

Zynga กล่าวว่าตัวเกม FarmVille จะปิดให้บริการอย่างเป็นทางการในวันที่ 31 ธันวาคมนี้ ทั้งบนแพลตฟอร์มมือถือและ Facebook ส่วนระบบ In-App Purchased จะปิดให้บริการในวันที่ 17 พฤศจิกายน โดยตอนนี้จะตัวเกมยังคงสามารถเข้าเล่นได้ตามปกติ
