Did you know that Taiwan has one of the largest Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) programs in the world? The Fulbright ETA Program, globally recognized as one of the highest standards of international education exchange, places Fulbrighters in classrooms abroad to provide assistance to local English teachers. The United States is committed to the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative and is excited to continue supporting Taiwan’s bilingual education through the Fulbright ETA program. By bringing together newly graduated Americans and local English teachers, the program promotes not only English language learning but also cross-cultural exchange. The program first began in Taiwan in 2003 with eight ETAs in Yilan and has now expanded to include 148 ETAs in 13 counties/cities. The United States is committed to the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative and is excited to continue supporting Taiwan’s bilingual education through the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) program. The ETA program is globally recognized as one of the highest standards of international educational exchange and a collaborative effort between the United States and Taiwan. By bringing together recent American graduates and local English teachers, the program promotes not only English language learning but also cross-cultural exchange. The program first began in 2003 with eight ETAs in Yilan and has since expanded to with 145 ETAs this year also serving in Kaohsiung, Kinmen, Taipei, Taichung, Taitung, Hualien, Changhua, Yunlin and New Taipei City. What advice would you give a recent U.S. college graduate visiting Taiwan for the very first time? Please leave your suggestions and join AIT and the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange in welcoming 129 new U.S. Fulbright English Teaching Assistants who will spend this academic year supporting English language education in Yunlin, Yilan, Changhua, Hualien, Taitung, Jinmen, Kaohsiung, Taichung, and Taipei.
