The United States is committed to the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative and is excited to continue supporting Taiwan’s bilingual education through the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) program. The ETA program is globally recognized as one of the highest standards of international educational exchange and a collaborative effort between the United States and Taiwan. By bringing together recent American graduates and local English teachers, the program promotes not only English language learning but also cross-cultural exchange. The program first began in 2003 with eight ETAs in Yilan and has since expanded to with 145 ETAs this year also serving in Kaohsiung, Kinmen, Taipei, Taichung, Taitung, Hualien, Changhua, Yunlin and New Taipei City.
