Every month at AppWorks we have an analyst or associate “take over” our Facebook page to share about different topics and ideas, hopefully helping a few founders along the way. Last month, AppWorks Associate Ching dedicated October to investment-related topics, such as expectations regarding investment and investors, how to prepare for due diligence, and even included an interview with Joseph Phua, Chairman of 17Live.
This month, we will kick off our latest application for AppWorks Accelerator #22. AppWorks has 3 core products, and the Accelerator is the earliest of them. For November, I will share about how we built and sustained one of our core products in the last decade, and how we will facilitate its growth over the next one. Although not a money-making machine, it’s a community we’re building and a product we’re serving to our users -- you.
My name is Natalie and I’m an analyst at AppWorks. I definitely don’t claim to be an expert on entrepreneurship, given that I’m not a founder myself, but I was hoping that by sharing our experiences with building the accelerator program from nothing to over 1,300 founders in our ecosystem, perhaps you might be able to draw some insight or inspiration for your own products or communities. This month, I will be talking about a range of topics including how we had to make adjustments to the program due to COVID-19, how great leadership powers great teams, building community, and more.

Interview係一門學問,唔係問完幾句感覺良好就可以嘅工作,我哋其實可以用更有系統、更有技巧嘅面試方法 — Competency-based Interviewing Skills。
Competency-based Interviewing Skills係一套面試機制,透過建立一套Competency Model去設計唔同職位嘅面試問題,更有系統去組織成個面試流程,設計客觀嘅評分機制,再加上提問技巧,幫助我地更精準去請人。
用Competency-based interview有幾個好處:
1.客觀嘅評分
由於有事先設定嘅目標、問題、評分機制,我哋可以避免主觀感覺影響Interviewer對求職者嘅評分。就算你主觀覺得佢樣衰衰,但佢答到問題,你都唔可以因為咁而唔畀分佢。
2.問問題更有目標
同傳統面試唔同,Competency-based interview通常會用behavioral questions(情境面試題)去了解求職者嘅技能。例如目標係需要leadership skills,喺一般面對面嘅面試好難睇到,所以我哋要透過預先設計嘅behavioral question去了解佢過去嘅行為,去判斷佢係咪適合。
3.節省成本
設立咗面試機制後,喺選擇CV、面試上我哋都有一套標準幫我哋去篩選。特別大部分HR人手都唔多,如果你更早、更容易知道candidate唔啱,你可以想像慳到幾多時間同成本去做其他嘢。
4.提升HR嘅價值
透過Competence-based interview請返嚟嘅同事證實更適合工作崗位,工作表現更好,turnover降低,其實變相HR係幫助緊公司提升競爭力。
