Samsung has been actively lowering the price of its #QLED #LCD #TVs this year, in turn driving up the yearly global shipment of QLED TVs to 8.8 million units, a 50% increase YoY.
As the leading QLED TV brand, #Samsung has a 90% market share in this segment.
#TrendForce believes Samsung’s price drop this year is done in preparation for the release of new flagship products next year. Currently, QLED is second only to #8K TVs within Samsung’s product portfolio of TVs, but Samsung is expected to release #MiniLEDbacklight TVs as the new flagship starting as early as 2Q21.
That is why lowering QLED prices this year to make space for the upcoming #MiniLED products’ price bracket makes sense. As for QD OLED TVs, which is positioned above Mini LED TVs, their release will likely be delayed to 2022 due to their brand new technology.
