Whilst I’m (mentally) here in Egypt, here’s me competing with the Great Sphinx of Giza on who has the better side profile.
Growing up, I always associated the Sphinx with riddles— something I really enjoyed solving (or try to solve) thanks to my brainy sis @deezng who is so good at riddles.
Here are some of my fav (more PC) riddles:
1. I speak with a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body, but I come alive with wind, what am I?
2. This belongs to you, but everyone else uses it.
3. What is seen in the middle of March and April but can’t be seen at the beginning or end of the month?
Can you guess the answers without Google?
I have a score of other riddles in hand, some super stupid but sah funny and some so severely messed up no one could possibly figure it out— I’d be worried if they could.
Howbeit, I’d like to give an honorary mention to my most memorable riddle by the Sphinx in Harry Potter’s Goblet of Fire (who doesn’t love a Sphinx who can rhyme-a-riddle):
“First think of the person who lives in disguise, who deals in secrets and tells naught but lies. Next, tell me what's always the last thing to mend, the middle of the middle and end of the end? And finally, give me the sound often heard during the search for a hard-to-find word.”
This riddle was rather tricky and had I encountered this Sphinx, I’d end up turned into stone for taking way too much time trying to figure the answer out 🕷
Nowadays, we can Google it all, but back in the day, you had to memorize both the riddles and answers! Made it that much more gratifying to figure out these riddles all on my own; even though it could take ages, I was super stubborn and never gave up!
Kinda explains the me today, HA. I guess those riddle solving days had some sorta beneficial influence to my persevering personality.
Er, can someone explain how I went from my picture with the Great Sphinx to talking about my personality? 🥴 #longwindednarcissism

Dancing has never been my forte. And #dancerpose or #natarajasana is the closest thing to dancing that I can do well.
•
I recently rewatched the “guy dancing on his own starts a dance party.” A guy doing strange moves, dancing on his own. There were people around him but some laughed and some were hesitant to join. About a min or two later, one person joined him. Still most people were still unmoved. Then another minute passed, another person joined. And gradually more and more people joined. In the end, over 100 people joined the dance that they were doubtful of.
•
This has actually become a famous psychological case study. The person who started the dance (trend or movement) has this persistence in him. But the second and even the third persons also played an important role in success of this dance and subsequently a party. They show to the world that it is ok to do something different, strange and silly.
•
If you’re starting a new job/life/movement/trend, it can be a very lonely and self-doubting experience. You probably get no support or recognition from anyone. But through #lawofattraction you would get a few musketeers by your side and if your persevere, a new trend or career is born.
•
That was me - the guy dancing crazy moves - when I decided to leave my old PR job and started teaching yoga full time 10
Years ago. It wasn’t easy and luckily I did get a lot of help from lots of kind hearted people, and I wasn’t afraid to ask for help. One thing i didn’t do was to give up. And today, I’m glad I never gave up when I hit a brick wall.

What is your story of persevering against all odds? And what have you learned?

Every little victory that we fought for is a worthy reminder to ourselves: Just what are we persevering for?
I fell in love with Chanel earrings many years ago, but was too debt-ridden to afford them. So I stood for a very long time in front of the shop window at Ngee Ann City. I remembered my Grandmaster's teachings and there and then, did an offering practice.
Early this year, a client gifted me with this pair of Chanel earrings, my very first pair of Chanel earrings.
She said she wanted to thank me for analysing her daughters' Bazi two years ago. She adhered to my recommendations, which greatly helped her elder daughter in her O and A-Levels exams. When her child successfully enrolled in the junior college I recommended, both my client and her daughter were surprised that her daughter's studies improved. Most importantly, her daughter was also happy studying there.
In my memory, there are several ways in how my clients thank me when they get results from my recommendations. They give me another red packet, offered to take photos of me (from a client who is a professional photographer), write me a testimonial, give me food or other little presents etc.
This lady client observed from my Facebook that I often wore different earrings. She also remembered I wrote an article on Chanel watches some years ago.
She told me it was her first time walking into the Chanel store at Ngee Ann City, and her sole purpose was to buy me these earrings. In that split second, I was in awe of the amazing powers of True Buddha Tantric Dharma!
Last week, a reader PM me, wanting to make a donation in my name. She asked me to choose a charity that I wished to support. After reading my shared post on 14 March, she was saddened to know that I had to take on the negative karma of my clients. She wanted to help me out by donating money for me and replenish my tank of good fortune.
The message wasn't a long one but I read it several times. I was truly moved by her gesture.
I didn't accept the kind intention of the reader. I felt that I did not contribute anything to her, to deserve the "emolument". Secondly, the person who tied the bell on the neck of the tiger should be the one taking it down. It was on my own free will that I took up this job. I should also be the one to shoulder its karmic weight and know how to resolve it.
While donations can increase one's good fortune, they are not sufficient to eradicate negative karma.
You know what is the most difficult thing in this mortal world?
To win the hearts of people.
The second most difficult thing will be to have people wanting to fork out money for you. 😄
I can speak ok, I can write ok. My video editing skills are also just passable.
There aren't many things that I like. I mainly speak and write about Dharma, Chinese Metaphysics and a bunch of life theories. If all these have yet to bore you, I really have Amitabha Buddha to thank for.
Some people lived till 80 years, while others lived the same year 80 times.
I have had fear and hesitations. I had cried and wanted to give up. But I soldiered on because I needed a reason to stop doubting myself.
Thank you to you, for not despising me more than myself, and allowing me to be me.
Whether it was just one line of my writing that you read, or that one minute of video that you watched, I am happy and thankful to have won your heart in that one moment.
If I have to lose you, winning the world will mean nothing to me.
May there be more wonderful times of us striving together ahead, towards kindness, towards betterment.
