They use a tool to measure how far can a person reach a certain movement which is called “goniometer” but more often they use observations so that patient are not conscious and won’t correct their movement.

#AskKenneth: Overhead Squat (OHS)
I shared the information about Overhead Squat yesterday. Coach @Angus improved his techniques of Sumo Deadlift and Front Squat immediately with better body posture.
1️⃣Range of Motion (ROM)
I do care my trainee's range of motion. I understand that everyone's ROM is different based on his body structural. That's why Overhead Squat is an assessment to examine the trainee's ability. If he cannot perform OHS with full ROM, I cannot expect he can perform squat with heavy weight with full ROM. That's impossible.
2️⃣Squat & Deadlift
To me, both squat and deadlift exercises are the same thing.
▶️Squat: You put the weight on your back; ▶️Deadlift: You lift the weight up from the floor.
Techniques are almost the same.
👉Lats tight.
👉Slightly arching your back.
👉Brace your abs.
👉Head up & chest up.
👉Activate your entire body to lift the weight up.
Again, Rule One of Lifting Weight: Technique always comes first.
