For so many years, your warm hands in the big rain rubbed my rough days and nights. I’ve tolerated the injustice and indifference of this island, silencing myself. You are like a lamp that sheds light on my mottled shadow. With love as high as death, youth as short as a candle, misfortune more tenacious than stones, gray hair more barbarous than weeds, I never succumb, even though cruelty has long been written in my obituary. I still stay in this village, waiting in a posture that does not show, walking to the seaside to look at thedirection that points to you.
