While Omar Mukhtar was writing about the #WeAreAllMary campaign, I remembered this video that we recorded last year during our weekly family meeting, but we never got around to sharing it. The topic that we discussed that day was about those less fortunate children in Palestine, Syria and all around the world. Our intention was to remind them of how lucky they were to have food to eat, to have a roof over their heads etc. We also tried to make them realise that it was our duty to help those in need.

Fatimah was only 4 years old and Ali was barely 3 at the time, but I was amazed by how much they understood the suffering of the children of Palestine. The topic touched their hearts so much that Ali offered to give his favourite ‘religious bird’ toy to the children and Fatimah even wanted to build houses with heaters and fans for the children to live in!

But at one point, when we asked them what message they wanted to send to the children of Palestine, Fatimah said, “I want to tell all the children in Palestine not to be sad.” but that was the last sentence we heard from her before she got choked up. Those of you who know Fatimah will know how strong she is, but not this time. Soon we too were getting emotional, seeing a 4-year-old girl shed tears for people she has never even met! Even Mukhtar himself couldn’t hold his tears back.
