#Tiananmen30 #TiananmenMassacre #TiananmenMothers #WeRemember64
"We express our deep sorrow to the families still grieving their lost loved ones, including the courageous Tiananmen Mothers, who have never stopped seeking accountability, despite great personal risk. The events of thirty years ago still stir our conscience, and the conscience of freedom-loving people around the world." U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in his statement on the 30th Anniversary of Tiananmen Square. We salute to Tiananmen Mothers. Let's see what they said.

Former Associated Press reporter Mr. Terril Jones recalled what he saw the day before June 4, 1989.

THIRTY YEARS AGO TODAY, June 3, 1989 --
Early, early in the day, just after midnight, a couple of thousand soldiers jogged down Changan Blvd toward Tiananmen Square, right under my nose as I was staying late at the office. They were young and unarmed, and when they got to the square the crowds of citizens who had stayed all night to "protect" the students at Tiananmen gave the soldiers tongue-lashings and kept them from the square. The soldiers were confused and exhausted, and collapsed on sidewalks and grass areas to catch their breath. All that just thickened the tension and strained nerves. Crowds surrounded a military jeep when it left Tiananmen (seen from my hotel window), arguing with those inside. Later today crowds filled Changan Blvd just east of T-Square, clambering atop buses to get a better view. Of what? Of soldiers who were appearing in greater numbers around the eastern edge of the square, further fueling talk of a military move to clear the students from the square. The rumor mill had reached the equivalent of a Category 5 hurricane. (Photos by TJ)
