=================================
1) Put down(支払う)
=================================
<例文>
I’m thinking about buying a house. How much should I put down?
I put down a deposit on a house today.
The bill’s a hundred bucks. What should we do for tip? How much should we put down?
=================================
2) Chunk of(たくさんの〜)
=================================
量が多いことを強調するときに、a good chunk of ____、a fair chunk of ____、a big chunk of ____ と表現します。
<例文>
A good chunk of my salary goes to rent every month.
That’s a huge chunk of meat. How are you planning on cooking that?
I visited Kyoto and Osaka but I spent a big chunk of my time in Tokyo.
=================================
3) Factor into(〜を考慮する)
=================================
<例文>
We have to factor in many things before making a decision.
I forgot to factor in transportation fees in my budget.
Everyone lives all over the world. We have to factor in the time difference.
=================================
4) Take a toll(〜
=================================
<例文>
You should try to avoid running on concrete. It takes a toll on your knees.
It seems like this new job is taking a toll on your body.
Being around someone who complains all the time takes a toll on your mental health.
=================================
5) Torn between A & B(AとBのどちらにしようか悩む)
=================================
今日の会話では torn between A or Bと言いましたが、一般的には torn between A & Bと言います。
<例文>
I’m torn between the iPhone and Android. Which one do you think is better?
I'm torn between going to Canada and Australia. I can’t make up my mind.
I’m torn between telling the truth and keeping my friend’s secret.

Do you know what is this? (Young people!) Cassette Tape Recorder! I have been teaching using audio cassette tape since 1997! And I still do this. My parents are still living in Kyoto, Japan now. Back then, I figured out this so that I can send money to my parents every month. All I do is do my part. Tape lessons! It worked and it’s still working! I am thankful that my parents gave my freedom on my American Dream. I am so lucky that I can support them back after I can make a living with 🎸 #guitar #parents #momanddad #correspondencelesson #tapelesson #guitarlesson #cassettetapes #cassettetape #cassetterecorder #tomofujita #mylittlestories
