Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was once asked by a man, "Who is most deserving of my good company?". The Prophet said, "Your mother." The man asked, "Who is next?" The Prophet said, "Your mother." The man asked further, "Who is next?" The Prophet said, "Your mother." The man asked for the fourth time, "Who is next?" The Prophet replied, "Your father."
This shows how great the status of mothers is in Islam. And of course, we should be so grateful to our mothers because of all the hardships they’ve faced, carrying us in their womb for months, going through pain to give birth to us, fighting death to bring us into this world, not to mention all the hard work they put in to raise us.
However, my story is a little bit different. It wasn’t just my mother taking on all the responsibilities and work. I am truly blessed that I don’t just have a father who we greet at the front door every time he comes home from work, speaks a few words throughout the day, and is invisible anytime else. No, Mr Dad shares the same responsibilities as Mrs Mom, and has always played a big role in the house - cooking, cleaning, bathing us and caring for all of us. In fact, not only has he been an amazing father, but when Mrs Mom was ill, he filled in the role of a mother as well, which he’s been doing for the past 7 years.
For as long as I can remember, he has treated Mrs Mom like a queen and me, Fatimah and Ali like princes and princesses! So I pray to Allah that He treats Mr Dad just like a king, and that he is rewarded for all the care he has given his family - his immeasurable love would be impossible to repay! And of course, I pray that Mrs Mom is showered with blessings for everything she has done for us. Mrs Mom always says that she feels guilty that Mr Dad has had to do more than she does. But to me, that guilt is unnecessary, because even though she has been ill, she has done more than enough, not just for me, but for all of us!
Today, I’m officially 14 years old. For me, birthdays aren’t a day to celebrate yourself or claim gifts from your parents. It’s a day to give thanks to Allah for the life He has blessed us with, and above all, to celebrate our parents. So today, I’m not asking for anything for myself. But I want to thank Allah for blessing me with 14 beautiful years - Alhamdulillah. I thank Him for giving me two irreplaceable parents, who not only treat me as a son, but as a friend too. And I pray that He gifts both of them many more happy, healthy years of life…Aameen 🤍
Happy Birthday To Me,
Omar Mukhtar

What a beautiful thing to see it really touches the heart seeing this father and his daughter reciting the Qur'an MashaAllah. May Allah the Almighty Creator help us all to be motivated to teach our kids the Qur'an with understanding.
MESSAGE TO PARENTS
Dear Parent,
Imagine that you are in the day of judgment, waiting for your final destiny and hoping for the mercy of Allah. Then, suddenly angles will cloth you with garments, which far surpass everything to be found in this world, and will be given a crown to wear whose light will be like the light of the sun, and you will say, “O Lord, how did I earn this.” It will be said , “Because you taught your child the Quran.”’”
It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘The Qur’an will come on the Day of Resurrection like a pale man saying to its companion, “Do you recognize me? I am the one who made you stay up at night and made you thirsty during the day…” Then he will be given dominion in his right hand and eternity in his left, and a crown of dignity will be placed upon his head, and his parents will be clothed with garments, which far surpass everything to be found in this world. They will say, “O Lord, how did we earn this.” It will be said to them, “Because you taught your child the Qumran.”’”
(Narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Awsat, 6/51).
Wow. What a reward parents would get in the Akirah…garments, which far surpass everything to be found in this world, and that will only be because they took care of and taught their child. Even if they themselves were ignorant, Allah will honor them because of their child. But the one who prevented his child from learning the Qur’an, he will be one of those who are deprived.
It was narrated that Buraydah said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever reads the Qur’an, learns it and acts in accordance with it, on the Day of Resurrection his parents will be given a crown to wear whose light will be like the light of the sun, and his parents will be given garments which far surpass everything to be found in this world. They will say, “Why have we been given this to wear?” It will be said, “Because your child learned the Qur’an.”’”
(Narrated by al-Haakim, 1/756)
Did Shaitan ever whispered to you: where can you find good Quran school? It is hard to find qualified quran teachers? You are so busy, you don’t have time to drop and pick up your child everyday from the school? And so on…. these are excuses for procrastination. With more than 12 years of formal education, we clearly envision the end result for our kids. We want them to have higher certificates and hence better jobs and prosperity. This is because we can sense the benefit of education in this Dunia. What about sending our kids to memorize Quran. Well, the benefits are not readily apparent.
Our beloved PBUH said: “The best among you is he who learns the Holy Quran and then teaches it to others.”
BENEFITS FOR YOUR KIDS:
Allah has given special privileges to the one who memorizes the Qur’an, the rewards are immense and the benefits are innumerable both in this Dunia and in the life of hereafter.
1.
Quran teaches our kids how to become leaders. It was narrated that Abu Mas’ood al-Ansaari said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘The people should be led in prayer by the one among them who has the most knowledge of the Book of Allah‘”. Have a look at our community; youth who are blessed with memorizing quran are taking lead in activities and congregations from very young age. Quran can teach our children to be leaders. Look at this example from the life of the companions of our beloved prophet PBUH.
It was narrated from ‘Aamir ibn Waathilah that Naafi’ ibn ‘Abd al-Haarith met ‘Umar in ‘Usfaan, and ‘Umar had appointed him as governor of Makkah. ‘Umar said, “Who have you appointed in charge of the people of the valley?” He said, “Ibn Abza.” ‘Umar asked, “Who is Ibn Abza?” He said, “One of our freed slaves.” Umar said, “Have you appointed over them a freed slave?!” He said, “He is well-versed in the Book of Allah and he has knowledge of the laws of inheritance.” ‘Umar said: “Your Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Indeed, by this Book, Allah would exalt some people and degrade others.’”
(Narrated by Muslim, 817)
2.
The status of the one who memorizes Qur’an will be commensurate with the last aayah he memorized.
It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an (i.e., the one who memorized and studied it): ‘Read, advance in status and recite as you used to do in the world, for your status will be commensurate with the last aayah that you recite.’”
(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2914; he said this is a saheeh hasan hadeeth. Al-Albaani said in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, no. 2329, it is hasan saheeh. Also narrated by Abu Dawood, 1464).
3.
He will be with the angels, accompanying them.
It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The one who recites the Qur’an and learns it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes (in Heaven) and the one who exerts himself to learn the Qur’an by heart and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward.”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4653; Muslim, 798)
4.
The Qur’an will intercede for him with his Lord.
It was narrated that Abu Umaamah al-Baahili said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, ‘Recite the Qur’an, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection to intercede for its companions. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqarah and Soorat Aal ‘Imraan, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection like two clouds or two shades or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. Recite Soorat al-Baqarah for to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it.”
(Narrated by Muslim, 804, and by al-Bukhaari in a mu’allaq report).
5.
He is placed in front of others in a common grave, closer to the qiblah, if it is essential to bury him with others.
It was narrated that Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allaah (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: “The Prophet would wrap two of the men slain at Uhud in a single cloth, then he would ask, ‘Which of them knew more Qur’an?’ If one of them was pointed out to him, he would put that one in the lahd (niche in the side of the grave) first. And he said, ‘I will be a witness over these people on the Day of Resurrection.’ He commanded that they should be buried with their blood, without being washed, and that no funeral prayer should be offered for them.”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1278)
6.
He enjoys the mercy of Allah.
“The mercy of Allah descends upon a house in which the Holy Qur’an is being recited and the angels of Allah enter that house to listen to the recitation of the Holy Qur’an.”
(Reported by Abu Hurairah)
At the end, dear parent, remember: your kids are your investments, and the benefits are in the Akirah, garments, which far surpass everything to be found in this world and a crown to wear whose light will be like the light of the sun, and you will say, “O Lord, how did I earn this.” It will be said to them, “Because you taught your child Quran.”
