米水不宜開奶粉
在職媽媽:「BB剛滿一歲體形偏瘦,一直貼著生長線底部,用米水開奶會有助吸收長肉嗎?」
CheckCheckCin:中醫理論認為小兒「臟腑嬌嫩,形氣未充」,小朋友五臟六腑尚未完全發展成熟,容易有脾胃虛弱的情況出現,未能正常吸收吃下去的食物營養,所以出現「唔長肉」的情況。坊間一直流傳用米水開奶粉給小兒飲用,聲稱有增磅甚至清熱的功效,然而並不建議這樣做,沖泡配方奶粉宜跟從奶粉包裝上的指示,即是加入清水沖泡,並且與米水分開飲用。
用紅米、白米及生薏米煲煮而成的米水,屬性平和,適合男女老幼飲用,小兒1歲開始已可飲用,最初可由每天飲一小杯約60毫升開始,可以補氣健脾胃,改善小朋友營養不吸收的情況,亦能紓緩嬰兒嘔奶、消化不良甚至腹瀉等症狀。
健脾胃朝米水
材料:紅米2湯匙、白米半湯匙、生薏米半湯匙
做法:將材料洗淨,鍋內加入約800-1000毫升水,加入材料,以武火煮滾後調文火煮20-30分鐘。
*米水容易變壞,建議每天煲好,一天飲完,不要過夜。
*孕婦飲用可不下生薏米。

CheckCheckCin: From Chinese medicine perspective, young children’s organs have not fully developed and they cannot properly absorb all the nutrients consumed because of their asthenic spleen and stomach. Therefore, they tend to grow slower. Some people say it is better to use rice water to make formula milk to help them gain weight and even clear heat. However, we do not recommend that. You should follow the preparation instructions to mix the powder with regular water, and drink rice water separately.
Rice water is made by boiling red rice, white rice and coix seeds. The recipe is mild in nature, and suitable for the entire family. It is suitable for children 1 year old or above. Start by having 60ml of rice water per day. It can nourish qi and strengthen spleen and stomach, improve nutrient absorption, and also relieve the symptoms of vomiting, indigestion and even diarrhea.
Rice water to strengthen spleen and stomach
Ingredients: 2 tablespoons red rice, half tablespoon of white rice, half tablespoon of coix seeds
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Combine all ingredients with 800-1000ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
*Rice water should be made fresh daily and should not be stored overnight as it may spoil easily.

為何懷孕容易腳抽筋?
相信很多孕媽媽都經歷過小腿抽筋的情況,尤其在冬天的夜晚,突如其來的抽痛不止讓人睡不著,更會令人痛得哇哇叫。孕婦由於體重逐漸增加,雙腳負擔也相對加重,而且肝血也因供應胎兒而相對不足,而中醫認為肝主筋,腳抽筋主要因為肝血不足,以致「血不榮筋」,即血液不能充分榮養筋肉,使血脈、筋骨間的營養傳輸發生障礙,尤其當雙腳受涼時,就更容易出現腳抽筋的症狀。
經常出現腳抽筋的孕婦,平日要多喝水補充身體水分,睡覺時避免冷氣或風扇直接吹向雙腳,也盡可能穿長褲睡覺,當腳抽筋發生時,可以試試以下急救方法。
1. 慢慢轉身雙腳落床踏地,讓血液流向腳板底。
2. 坐下來,伸直抽筋的下肢,用雙手拉住腳掌,慢慢向身體方向拉扯,保持膝關節伸直。
3. 按壓承筋穴,位於小腳肚的隆起處,膝蓋後方橫紋往下三指橫寬處,促進血液循環,紓緩痛楚。
Why are pregnant women prone to leg cramps?
A lot of pregnant ladies have experienced leg cramps especially on winter nights and it leads to bad sleep and pain. As your weight increases during pregnancy, the burden on our legs increase and liver blood is insufficient as it is used to supply to the baby. Chinese medicine theory says that liver corresponds to tendons. Leg cramps happen when there is insufficient liver blood and the blood cannot nourish the tendons leading to the interruptions of transport between blood vessels and tendons. This happens more when the legs are cold too.
For pregnant ladies who often experience leg cramps, be sure to drink more water to replenish fluids in the body. Avoid getting cold air blown directly on the legs during sleep and try to wear long pants to sleep. When you are experiencing leg cramps, try the below emergency relieve methods:
1. Turn your body slowly and plant both feet on the floor to allow blood to flow to the bottom of feet
2. Sit down and straighten your legs that are cramp, use both hands and pull on palm of your feet. Keep your knees straight and pull towards your body gently.
3. Press on your Cheng Jin acupoint which is located about 3 finger widths below the crease behind your knees where your calves bulge out. This can promote blood circulation and relieve pain.

營養魚湯養胎健脾胃
懷孕期間要注意飲用,宜飲用屬性平和的保健湯水,不妨多飲用魚湯,營養豐富之餘味道又可口,煲湯的魚類宜選擇體型較小的魚,例如木棉魚、鯉魚、鰂魚、山斑魚、鯇魚尾、牛鰍魚等,因為大型深海魚類的重金屬及污染物含量普遍偏高,尤其吞拿魚、大王馬鮫魚、金目鯛、劍魚、旗魚等,孕婦們不宜多吃。配搭具健脾胃及滋陰功效的湯料,已經是一鍋適合孕婦飲用的靚湯了。
健脾滋陰湯水小貼士:
適當地添加健脾滋陰食材如蓮子、百合、枸杞子、黑豆、雪耳、核桃等。
節瓜淮山牛鰍魚湯
功效:生津止渴,健脾益氣
材料:節瓜2個、鮮淮山1根、牛鰍魚1條、眉豆30克、無花果2枚、淡菜乾25克、薑片2片
做法:
1. 把所有材料洗淨,牛鰍魚劏乾淨;節瓜去皮切大塊;鮮淮山去皮切大塊。
2. 牛鰍魚以熱油加薑煎至兩面微黃,放入魚湯袋備用。
3. 鍋中加入約2000毫升水,放入全部材料,以武火煮至水滾,調文火煮約1.5小時,最後加鹽調味即成。
素湯版:以白鍋炒香腰果40克,代替魚、淡菜
Fish soup to nourish the baby and strengthen the spleen and stomach
It is important to watch your diet during pregnant and suitable to have mild natured healthy soups. Consider having more fish in your soup as it is nutritious and tasty. Fish used in soup should be smaller in size as larger fish are high in metals and pollutants which are not suitable for pregnant ladies. Coupled with ingredients that strengthen the digestive system and nourish the yin, you can make a great pot of soup for expecting mothers.
Tips to make soup that strengthen the spleen and nourish yin:
Appropriately add in ingredients such as lotus seeds, lily bulbs, wolfberries, black soya beans, snow fungus, walnuts.
Flathead fish soup with hairy gourd and Chinese yam
Effects: Promote fluid production and relieve thirst, strengthen the digestive system and nourish qi
Ingredients: 2 hairy gourd, 1 fresh Chinese yam, 1 flathead fish, 30g black eyed peas, 2 figs, 25g dried mussels, 2 slices of ginger
Preparation:
1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Clean flathead fish thoroughly. Peel hairy gourd and Chinese yam and cut into large pieces.
2. Fry flathead with hot oil and ginger until both sides are slightly golden and place into fish bag.
3. Combine all ingredients with 2000ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1.5 hour. Add salt to taste.
For vegetarian version: replace flathead fish and mussels with 40g of cashews fried without oil.
