Whenever I bring tourists on a food tour in Geylang, Kwong Satay is one of the must-visit stalls. Kwong Satay’s roots can be traced back to the 1960s when the grandfather of Mr. Wong Chee Kwong peddled satay from a trishaw in Katong. Two decades later, Mr. Wong Chee Kwong continued the family tradition when he started selling satay at Geylang. This flagship stall is now operated by Sim Peng Kuen (also known as Ah Koon).
Made according to their good old recipe which has Hainanese Chinese, Peranakan and Indian influences, the signature pork loin satay and pork belly satay are delicious. The satay spice rub comprises cumin, turmeric, lemongrass, candlenut, fennel, lemongrass and more. Fresh, juicy and succulent, the satay is imbued with a smokiness. The pork belly satay is especially yummy, with a sliver of fat sandwiched between the meat. The satay sauce comes topped with a generous dollop of mashed pineapple puree to give it that extra kick. Love it!

Super satisfying home-cooked private-dining meal Jiak2gather 🤤 Swipe to see how much we were fed 🥰 Each and every dish had so much thought put into it, everything made from scratch, like how our ah ma (grandmas) will do it 😌
I loved the entire meal but nothing beats Foie Gras Ngoh Hiang (the original Grandma's Secret Recipe Ngoh Hiang served with achar was already really good but Chef Anon specially did a foie gras ngoh hiang for me and it was mind-blowing 😭 ROLLED IN THE CRIPSY THIN SKIN IS THIS MELTY FLAVOURFUL MESS I CANNOT GET OVER 😭 BUGGER MELTS IN MY MOUTH ALMOST AS FAST AS I PUT IT IN I LOVE THE FOIE GRAS NGOH HIANG SO MUCH 😭 Nope i did not share it with Josh 🙂😂
There was also Grandma's Laksa with giant River Prawn (but we got super fresh, fat and sweet crayfish instead cox homecook meal is like this ah, ingredients gotten fresh from that day, must see market got what ho liao in case one ingredient runs out 😌) and the gravy with this dry laksa is just thick enough + super delish omg 👍🏻
There was also cod fish, double-boiled soup that has soooo much ho liao inside (can top up soup one!!! Really like my ah ma's house sia) and also this Nasi Lemak where even the sambal and crispy chili ikan bilis all are made from scratch! 🥰
My sisters and Josh all went crazy over the chunky pork belly satay served with the nasi lemak cox it's marinated and chargrilled to perfection wthhh. Chewy juicy and fatty with all that flavour 🤤
With quite a quirky twist, they offer whiskey pairing with your meal (at additional cost of course) so if you're looking at an evening of conversations over good food, good company, jio your friends and family who can appreciate yummy food made from the heart and made with passion, reserve your slot Jiak2gather for your own private-dining experience! ☺️
Thank you @jawsure for arranging this.. He can't read Chinese but i'm just gon put it out there.. 最好你竟快再带我回去这里吃. 我一天吃不到他的五香, 你就没一天好过的 🙂😂

Have you tried this yummy Chinese Seafood Egg Gravy on Rice? In Singapore, this is known as Mui Fan (in Cantonese) or 烩饭 in Chinese. Some people said this dish reminded them of risotto - what do you think? This is another easy-to-cook dish. A perfect wholesome meal that can be easily prepared within a short time (that is if you have chicken stock on hand and also provided that the rice is already cooked). Making the chicken stock from scratch is optional. You can also use chicken stock from a box or even chicken bullion cube. Easy easy.
See the ingredient list below for your easy reference.

Hainanese curry rice is a Chinese Singaporean dish consisting of steamed white rice drenched in curry and braising sauce. The dish is often accompanied with other dishes laid on top of the rice such as pork chop, chap chye (mixed vegetables - cabbage), braised pork and a sunny side up. Although this dish is known as Hainanese curry rice, I was told that there is no such dish in Hainan, China (i can't verify because it's hearsay) I hope to visit Hainan one day to confirm myself :)
