【育兒筆記】YBB 加固1個月小記

話咁快Y BB在前日已經7個月大了。
今年有很多朋友都成為媽媽，
對於加固也有很多期待和擔憂。
就讓我分享一下自己的小小經驗，
給大家參考參考。

一直以來我對育兒資訊都很有興趣。
在好幾年前已留意到Baby Led Weaning (BLW) 開始受關注。
這是一種強調讓bb自主進食，探索食物的加固方法。

Weaning, 中文是斷奶。
但其實嬰兒在1歲以前，
仍是依靠奶作為營養的主要來源。

千萬不要以為加固了便自行減去BB一餐奶。
也不用太在意加固後有多快可以代到一餐。
同一體積的奶絕對比固體食物有更多能量和營養。
"Food before one is mainly for fun! "

傳統上一般在BB 4-6個月大便會逐漸引進固體食物，
主要是打成糊狀(puree) 的水果蔬果泥、米糊、粥仔等。
由照顧者用匙羹一口一口的餵食，
BB無須咀嚼，直接吞下肚。

但BLW的不同之處在於提供食物的「原形」，
不再打爛食物，只會原個、切條，
生/蒸/煮(煎、焗、烤) 後直接給BB拿住吃。
在學會吞前先學會咀嚼。
流質食物則pre-load在匙羹給他拿著吃。

一般在滿6個月大 (26周) ，
BB能(signs of readiness) ：
1）坐直 (只提供少量/無輔助下)
2）維持頭的位置
3）對食物有興趣
4）能自主把東西拿起送到嘴裡
5）口腔有咬/咀嚼的動作

但BB還未出牙? 如何咀嚼呢?
其實BB單靠牙齦(gum) 已經足以把食物壓爛，
加上口水，足以令食物變得夠軟可以吞下肚。
關鍵是食物本身不能太硬，以可用2指壓爛為恰當。

給這麼大件的食物，BB會噎親嗎?
這便要分清Gagging vs Choking。

Gagging (臉會發紅)
嬰兒有gag reflex的保護機制，
口腔裡有異物便會引發「乾嘔」的反應，
令異物吐出來。
隨住年齡增長，
gag reflex 的觸發點會愈來愈後，
所以到大了要「扣喉」，才會引發嘔吐。

Choking則發生於氣道完全被阻擋，
影響呼吸引致窒息。(臉因缺氧而變藍)
食物卡住了無法透過咳/嘔去吐出來。
主因是食物的形狀，
硬而圓的食物是高危，
因為它們太易在不小心滑進氣道後卡住後不上不下。
避免方法是把食物切成長而幼。

為甚麼我會選擇BLW呢?
這要從我自己小時候說起。

我的瘦底除了基因，
也因為我是個蠻偏食的小朋友。

曾經在考某名小學時，
老師問我昨天吃了甚麼午餐，
居然不懂得回答。。。
因為是婆婆追著餵的 🙈
吃了甚麼也不太清楚。
(老師這招很高明)

含飯在口不吞下去，
食一餐飯要食1,2小時，
未試過的食物絕不嘗試。
這些通通是我。

這裡不時成為美食台，
也是因為我經常要想辦法引起食慾。
好吃的東西食得超快 😆

也令我決心找方法令歷史不要重演!

想實行BLW 的媽媽，
要有面對凌亂場面的強大心臟，
也要做好功課如何正確準備食物和急救的方法。
與家人也要好好溝通，
因為他們絕對會有很多疑問。

斷斷逐逐實行了1個月，已經嘗試了很多不同食物~

水果類：
香蕉，牛油果，啤梨，蘋果，紅綠黑提子，蜜瓜。

蔬果類：
紅蘿蔔，翠肉瓜，西蘭花，豆角，甜心高麗菜，燈籠椒。

肉類：
火雞、雞胸、牛扒、魚。

其他：
蛋、多士、豆腐、乳酪、bb餅、cream cheese。

也嘗試了open cup approach 讓bb從玻璃杯喝水。

對於餐具他也毫不抗拒，很自然的會放入口。
把沾有cream cheese 已經撕成bite size toast 拮在叉子上他也能準確的放入口。(much less mess!!)

初加固試了香蕉、牛油果和紅蘿蔔(蒸) ，
不知是否腸胃未適應奶以外的食物，
突然腸道蠕動密了很多，
有如new born時一樣!
連續幾天poo poo 5,6,7,8 次!
嚇得我停了幾天再開始。

部份食物會"see you tomorrow",
觀察到的有紅蘿蔔、西蘭花、提子皮和高麗菜。
但這也讓我知道他吃了多少下肚~

雖然食物大多都只吃到幾口，
但「玩」正正是重點~
明顯看到手眼協調、咀嚼、吞嚥每天都在進步!

有媽媽朋友分享說寶寶一開始也吃得蠻好的，
但愈大就開始愈挑食，
退化了似的。

這是一場長久的戰爭哦!

現今世代，
比較怕變成痴肥多於過瘦，
營養均衡最重要呢~!

我相信，吃是人得本能，
培養進餐時的好習慣最重要。

Circa 2014-India
On my Travelogue filming in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Whilst filming in the streets, this beautiful bright eyed little girl walks up hurriedly to me, 1 baby sister in her arms & the other clasped to her right hip. As she approached,my heart sank. They had no shoes or slippers on their tiny feet

“Tum philm staar ho?!” (“You are a movie star?!”) she squealed excitedly in Hindi. I laughed so hard! I asked where her parents were,in broken-conversational Hindi (Bollywood movie-fan-advantage)
She shrugged her shoulders high & boldly reached out for my hair. With every stroke, her eyes twinkled as she said, “pyaari” (“lovely”) ..
I was choking tears. These street children were barely clothed & yet had the biggest smile on their faces. I tickled the baby in her arms

They continued to stay & watched in awe as our cameras rolled. When we wrapped filming, I rushed to our van to get my supply of chocolates,candy & the only shawl I brought with me on the trip
They squealed in delight as I passed the purple plastic to the hip clasping little one. It was time to go & I hugged them tight,told them to keep safe on the streets
3 very brave little girls all alone with no one to protect them

They waved & smiled as I made my way back to the vehicle with an aching heart. I couldn’t.I stopped in my tracks, removed my shoes, turned around & passed my nude flats to the big sister.She took them gently & uttered “pyaari!” clutching my chin in her calloused little palms.I hugged her one last time. As we drove past, I smiled my biggest smile for them, welling tears.I was relieved or rather pacified my heart, they would have the big warm shawl & some chocolates to keep warm & happy for some days more

This little girl & her sisters changed my life that day in ways they will never know. It hit me. Doesnt really doesn’t matter if the glass is empty or full. I am thankful to have a glass with something in it
And to always be consciously thankful.Because if you are really thankful, you share

Got this cool fruit pacifier for baby to start sucking on fruits without choking. He's teething so this will help with all the biting he's been doing. He seems to enjoy it as well. At first doesn't seem like it but like with everything, first time takes time. He'll be munching on many more fruits in no time!
