Singaporeans have become very cosmopolitan and can adapt to living all over the world. At the Ho Rih Hwa Leadership in Asia Public Lecture last night, I cited one Singaporean who keeps honey bees in Rwanda. To my delight, afterwards this lady came up to tell me she lives in Rwanda too – one of 8 Singaporeans there! Lam Shumei runs a social enterprise – a poultry farm.
200,000 Singaporeans live, study and work abroad. We must make sure that while our citizens have opportunities overseas, they continue to feel the call of home deep in their hearts and consider Singapore their home. - LHL
