When I was young, I wanted to be everything. Then in my early 20s, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in my life. Now I’m in my 30s, I have a clearer sense of what my goals are but it can be challenging to achieve financial goals today, this is especially because our generation starts saving very late. 😧
One goal that I have been working towards, is getting a place of my own once I turn 35. I have been trying to understand my spending and savings to ensure that I am on track to achieve this goal, however I am always second guessing my calculations and myself. With DBS NAV Planner’s Map Your Money feature, we can now map our personal goals and see a projection of your cash flow for years ahead (that takes into account things I didn’t even consider such as; inflation, SRS/CPF rules and assets outside of DBS). I can now see the shortfalls/gaps in my current savings income streams.
Better yet, NAV Planner doesn’t stop at just 1 goal. I can add in all the goals I have and it would evaluate if I am doing enough to achieve that goal. 🤑
Simply log in to your DBS digibank and click on the plan tab to try NAV Planner!

Today is #InternationalWomensDay. We all play a part in building Singapore, but women have a vital role: they are often the primary caregivers, prioritising their families over their careers or personal aspirations.
The #SGBicentennial CPF top-up that was announced during the Budget debate will help many homemakers who could not build up their retirement funds. This top-up of up to $1,000 will benefit 300,000 Singaporeans aged 50 to 64 (60% of whom are women!), who have less than $60,000 of retirement savings in their CPF accounts.
The Singapore Ministry of Manpower also recently announced measures to support women in the workplace. For example, we increased the budget for the Work Life grant from $30 million to $100 million, to support companies offering flexible working arrangements for their employees.
The adage is true: Behind every successful nation, is its women. :) Once again, a happy International Women’s Day to everyone! – LHL

I have always preached happiness over money. Some of you may know that I just got married not too long ago, and bought my own place. And a new place means renovations. And all these commitments need quite a fair bit of money.
All these wouldn't have been possible if I had spent every cent I earned over the past few years. So what I am trying to say is that saving up IS important.
My advice? It's that it doesn't matter how much you earn -- always put aside AT LEAST a good 20% of what you earn for rainy days because you will never ever know when you will need it. Then once this amount grows over time, you can start thinking about how to grow it further by investing, be it in CPF or insurance etc. Of course, most importantly, you must have the savings to begin with.
So what I'm saying is, if you haven't started saving, 2019 is THE time to start. And I hereby challenge all of you guys to start this year! #TheNewZodiacRace #financialplanning
