“one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence; (but if a man doesn’t know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the assembly of God?)” (1 Timothy 3:4-5 WEB)
One of the most fundamental roles of leadership for a man is his identity as the head of his household.
This leadership role will always take precedence over his leadership in church.
Someone who rules his house well shows that he will likely be able to lead the church well—a family is like a mini church.
Being a good leader to your wife and children isn’t an easy job to do well—it requires wisdom and empowerment from the Holy Spirit which comes from time spent in God’s word and prayer.
As a writer who works from home and who is the main caregiver to my 4 year old daughter ever since she was a baby, I am quite experienced in this area of Christian parenting.
Receive God’s love first if you want to love your family in the way that they deserve from you.
I firmly believe that respect should be earned, not demanded.
Think about this: If our Heavenly Father is constantly bringing mankind to repentance in Christ Jesus by showing His goodness, then what right does a mere man have to demand respect from his children when he’s treating them badly?
If you’re not being a good parent, the answer is to go back to receiving God’s word and seeing His love for you.
Good Biblically-based parenting is a fruit of prioritizing your relationship with Jesus. The more often you sit at His feet to receive from Him, the better you’ll be as a parent because the love you received will overflow in your actions!
This year, you’ll need the entrance of God’s word to give you light to see. His word will be a lamp to your feet, showing you the way step by step, for all areas of your life.

In this new devotional, learn about the importance of training our children to speak in accordance with God's will, to wield the power of words like a young king in Christ.
When children engage in pretend play, in the natural it is good for them because they practice their communication skills, and work their imagination, etc. It has lots of benefits.
My only concern with it is when a child declares and imagines that he or she is injured, in pain, or that there is a fire in the house.
Such declarations have creative power in them and because of the great faith that children have, that power is magnified, able to manifest what is spoken.
