I didn’t meet my father until I was 6 years old. My parents had a comfortable, middle-class life in Shanghai, or as close as you could get under communism. But they always wanted to live overseas, and just before I was born, my dad came to Sydney to set things up. I don’t know why, but in the end, my mother and I didn’t join him until I was 6.

มาแปลจากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาฝรั่งเศสเพื่อวางจำหน่ายในประเทศ
โดยหนังสือเล่มนี้เป็นสารานุกรมรวบรวมบทความเกี่ยวกับวิทยาศาสตร์และศิลปะ

เขาจึงได้จ้างนักเขียนที่ชื่อว่า Denis Diderot มาทำหน้าที่ในการแปลหนังสือ
ร่วมมือกับนักคณิตศาสตร์ชื่อว่า Jean Le Rond d'Alembert

หลังจากเกิดคำถามขึ้นในใจ
Denis Diderot ก็ได้เริ่มเกลี้ยกล่อม Jean Le Rond d'Alembert นักคณิตศาสตร์ที่มาช่วยแปลหนังสือให้เห็นด้วยกับโปรเจกต์ใหม่ของเขาและในที่สุดโปรเจกต์ระดับมหากาฬนี้ก็ได้กำเนิดขึ้น

โดยเป็นการสร้างสารานุกรมที่รวบรวมข้อมูลหลาย ๆ ศาสตร์เข้าด้วยกัน
มีทั้งศาสตร์ด้านศิลปะ วิทยาศาสตร์ และงานฝีมือ ที่มีประโยชน์แก่ผู้คน

ระหว่างทำโปรเจกต์นี้เอง Denis ก็ได้แยกตัวออกมาเขียนหนังสือของตัวเองเพิ่ม
อย่าง Philosophical Thoughts, The Skeptic's Walk และ Letter on the Blind

โดยมีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับการไม่เชื่อในพระเจ้าหรือศาสนาคริสต์ รวมถึงมีการวิพากษ์วิจารณ์อย่างหนัก
ทำให้ Denis Diderot ถูกรัฐลงโทษจำคุกในที่สุด แต่เวลาต่อมาเขาก็ถูกปล่อยตัว

และแม้ว่าจะมีการแบ่งปันความรู้อยู่บ้าง แต่ก็เป็นแค่ระดับคนใกล้ชิด
จึงทำให้หนังสือฉบับนี้เป็นที่ชื่นชอบของผู้คน

เท่านั้นไม่พอ หนังสือยังมอบมุมมองและวิธีตั้งคำถามเกี่ยวกับเรื่องราวบนโลกใบนี้ด้วย
อย่างความเชื่อที่ส่งต่อกันมา เราจะสามารถพิสูจน์ได้อย่างไรว่าจริงหรือเท็จ

รวมถึงแต่ละเรื่องมีความเป็นไปได้มากน้อยแค่ไหน เช่น ทำไมชนชั้นตัวเองต้องอยู่อย่างลำบาก ในขณะที่คนอีกกลุ่มอยู่อย่างสุขสบาย

ด้วยการตั้งคำถามแบบนี้ ทำให้ผู้คนเริ่มเกิดวิธีคิดแบบใหม่

ซึ่งจริง ๆ แล้ว ก็ต้องบอกว่าเขาคิดผิด
เพราะแม้ว่าหลังจากโปรเจกต์นี้จะถูกแบนไป แต่มันก็ได้ทำหน้าที่ไปเรียบร้อยแล้ว
โดยสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นหลังจากนั้น คือคนฝรั่งเศสเริ่มรู้จักใช้ความคิดอย่างมีเหตุมีผล

นอกจากนี้ จากการที่หนังสือถูกแบน ก็เป็นตัวเร่งให้ผู้คนเกิดความสงสัย

我個人會用「middleman」或「go-between」。

請注意，「middleman」是指批貨後轉售他人者，或協助他人安排商業交易者。該詞本身並不具有任何犯罪或不法行為等負面意涵（negative connotations），亦須有上下文才足以呈現「白手套」的概念。
　
另一方面，「go-between」是在雙方無法見面或不想見面時，將消息從一人（或一個團隊）傳給另一人（或另一個團隊）的人。例如，聯合國代表將充當兩國領導人的中間人（或掮客）——「go-between」，而它的搭配你可以用「act/serve as a go-between」。「go-between」 的一個同義詞是「intermediary」。

❖再次提醒各位，若缺乏前後文，這些用語就不能完全代表「白手套」的涵義。底下我將舉出一些在腐敗情況中所使用的例子。

横浜、初訪問の家系ラーメン！神奈川県横浜市にある『ぼっけもん』にお邪魔して、ネギ味噌チャーシュー麺を頂いてきました！ぼっけもん、とは鹿児島の言葉で「大胆・命知らずな人」という実質剛健な薩摩人の気質を表している、と辞書にはあります。一転、ラーメンを頂くと柔らかな口当たりでとても食べやすく、女性のお客様が多いのが印象的でした！それでは早速お店の様子からご覧下さい！

Iekei Ramen for the first time in Yokohama! I visited "Bokkemon" in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and got the green onion miso char siu noodles! The dictionary says that "Bokemon" is a Kagoshima word that expresses the temperament of the Satsuma people, who are "bold and daredevil". On the other hand, when I got ramen, it had a soft taste and was very easy to eat, and it was impressive that there were many female customers! Let's take a look at the store!

Every junior high school has at least one native speaker to teach the students real English, and my junior high school was really small but there was one native speaker. I think he was an American teacher. His name was Bob. I think he was from the state of Minnesota. And I really liked that guy. I really liked him. He was a big man like American, and he made me curious about the life in America cuz we didn't have internet back then. So on his last day of his teaching term, I wanted to tell him, I wanted to say thank you to him. Actually I wanted to say more than just thank you. So the night before his last day, I was reading a dictionary, trying to come up with something to say to him. And I still remember it was "I had a good time with you". That was the phrase. And so the next day, very first in the morning, I went to teachers' room, and I found Bob sitting at his desk. And I came up to him and said "Good morning Bob. I had a good time with you. Thank you." But I wasn't sure what I said would make sense. But this big guy Bob, all of a sudden, put a big smile on his face, and said "I had a good time with you too. We're friends now.", and we shook hands. I was really happy. I was really happy to realize... first of all, I was so happy that my English made sense. And that's the time, that's the moment I realized how powerful a language is. How much a single phrase moves a person. So after that moment, English wasn't just a study for me. It was more like... it was more something human.
