Lai Yee's Kitchen- Bubur Cha-cha aka bobochacha 摩摩喳喳
Today marks 13 years since my Poh Poh passed away. In honor of her, I am cooking this to remember her amazing tong shui soup. She cooked us loads of soup, tong shui (sweet dessert soup) and all kinds of Chinese food. One of the reasons why I enjoy cooking a lot as she was one of my inspirations and guru in cooking.
This is the first time I tried cooking this famous Nyonya's dessert BoBoChaCha 摩摩喳喳 aka Bubur Cha-cha.
The dish is pronounced “bo bo cha cha” or “mo mo cha cha“. In Malay, “bubur” means “porridge”, and “cha cha” means “well”. ... Each region has a variation of Bubur Cha Cha: some include banana, black eyed peas, colourful tapioca jellies, or yam. It is popular in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Philippines too.
INGREDIENTS
• Sweet Potato 1kg
• Yam 1/2 kg
• Bananas 2 pcs (big size) or 4 small size
• Sago 1 cup or more
• Coconut Milk 3 to 4 cups (depending on the pot size)
• Pandan Leaves 8pcs (4 for color, 4 for soup)
• Water 3 litres
• Evaporated Milk 1 can
Potato Dough:
• Tapioca Flour 60g each bowl/colour
• Hot boiling Water 30g each bowl
• Food colouring or natural colour(which u can make)
「SEASONING」
• A pinch of Salt (it is up to u to add)
• 4 to 6 pcs Gula Melaka or Palm Sugar
I really love bobochacha.. it is like an all-time favourite dessert for many of us.
This is my first time but definitely not the last time. I want to keep on trying to make the best version. I like this one, but i believe i can make fun chewy tapioca to add in. Let's see what I can create soon.

Wonder how I keep myself healthy and energetic?
Another secret besides having good soup often is super juice in the morning on an empty stomach. I have been taking healthy green juices for many years now. No breakfast but juice. It has improved my digestion system tremendously.
So this morning I thought I should share this little secret of mine with you all.
Many years ago, I started juicing with bittergourd, green apple, celery, ginger, cucumber and lemon which helps in managing the levels of blood sugars, cleanses liver, boost immune systerm and aids in weight loss. Then I have changed to juice without the bittergourd but everything else and sometimes with kale. 3 years ago, I started adding beetroot into my green juices. Beetroot is a good source of potassium, it helps to control blood pressure, control muscle power, slow down dementia, may prevent cancer, keep your liver healthy, reduce cholesterol and control healthy weight too! It is also a good source of iron, folate, magnesium zinc, sodium. It has been great.
* Fun fact of consuming beetroot : Your urine and stools may turn red or pinkish after eating beets. This condition is known as beeturia, is harmless! 😛
Ingredients for Mel's Super Power Juice :
. 4 celery stalks
. 1/3 of a beetroot
. 2 green apples
. one whole lemon
. 1 to 1.5 inches of Ginger
. small piece of turmeric
* Note: Do try having the small bittergourd and kale into your juice too. But do it alternately.
Lala's Power Booster Juice ingredients:
. 1 carrots or more
. 2 oranges
. 1 green apple
. one slice of lemon
Voila, you can try having these juices on an empty stomach for above 2 weeks. You can definitely feel the difference. I feel GOOD and I hope u will too. #Selflove #Selfcare #Melcare

I wanted to kasi habis sia punya mushroom sini rumah ... takut bangas (basi / expired) jadi after the live, I added a bit more milk and more homemade vegetable stock (also using the Thermomix) to make it more creamier. First time making it! Sadap juga oh!
Had some pre-made pizza dough so baked pizza, heated up the leftoever mashed potatoes and then I sliced the baguette (from Everleaf) , added garlic butter and toasted it over the airfryer.
Lunch is served!

【Ingredients】
●Scones
★100g Bread flour
★50g Cake flour
★5g Baking powder
★5g Cane sugar(or Granulated sugar)
30g Salted butte
35g Whole egg
35g Soy milk
35g Rum raisin
1tbsp Egg for glazing
●Soup
2 slice of bacon
40g king oyster mushroom
1 tsp Olive oil
Salt
pepper
3 tbsp Water
150g Say milk(or Milk)
1and 1/2 tsp Potato starch
2 tsp Water
【Directions】
①Cut the butter into1cm cubes and cool it in the refrigerator.
②Combine the dry ingredients (★)and mix together with a whisk.
③Add the Butter.
④Using fingertips, until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Do not over do it.
⑤Add beaten egg,soy milk and mix.
***Do not over mix or knead.
⑥Add Rum raisin and flatten the dough to 3.5cm thick.
⑦Cool it in the freezer for 15min.
Preheat the oven to 392 °F/200℃.
⑧Cut to 6 pieces. Place scones on the tray.
⑨Brush all over with Beaten egg.
⑩Bake for 15 minutes until golden.

●Soup
ベーコン 2枚
エリンギ 40g
オリーブオイル 小さじ 1
塩
胡椒
水 大さじ 3
豆乳(or 牛乳) 150g
片栗粉 小さじ1杯半
水 小さじ 2
【作り方】
●スコーン
①バターを1cm角に切って冷蔵庫で冷やしておく。
②材料(★)をボウルに入れて泡立て器で混ぜ合わせる。
③冷やしたバターを加える。
④指先ですりこむように手早く混ぜる。
***全体に混ざって粉類がさらさらになればOk。無理に細かく混ぜようとするとどんどんバターが溶けてくるので、手早く混ぜ全体にバターが混ざった感じになればよい。
⑤溶き卵、豆乳を加えて混ぜる。
⑥間にラムレーズンを挟み込みながらひとまとめにする。
打ち粉をしながら、手で生地をまとめたら3.5cm位の厚さに平らにする。
**:カードなどを使って切って重ねるを3-4回繰り返す。
⑦生地を冷凍庫で15分冷やす。
***しっかり冷やすとカットするときに層を潰さずにカットできます。
オーブンを200℃に予熱スタート。
⑧生地を6個に切り分け、天板に並べる。
⑨溶き卵を刷毛で塗る。
⑩200℃に温めたオーブンで15分きつね色になるくらいに焼き出来上がり!
●豆乳エリンギスープ
①オリーブオイルでベーコンを炒め、ベーコンから脂が出てきたら、エリンギを加えて炒める。
②水を加えてさっと煮て、塩、胡椒する。
③豆乳を加えて沸騰したら火を弱めて、水溶き片栗粉を加えて2分ほど火を通す。
④最後に味を見て調える。
***お味噌を少量加えてもコクがでて美味しいです。
⑤器に盛ったらあればパセリを散らす。
