10/10 - Free islandwide delivery @wearetwiceyoung on 10/10!
Celebrating a smol milestone of 1000 pints and 2000 cookies 🥳
It’s been 9 months since the inception of Twice Young and it certainly hasn’t been an easy journey. There were lots to figure out along the way, and I’m still learning and improving. But I’m beyond grateful for the immense support that Twice Young has received - all the positive reviews and feedback that were sent our way, local businesses who have worked with us, loyal customers etc. And I’m extremely thankful for friends and family who have been spreading the word and sharing about my smol biz.
It really isn’t easy working out of my small apartment, and I really struggle with the space constraints(not being able to buy ingredients/goods in bulk, not enough space in my freezer etc) and there were times when I got really frustrated with the lack of space to even bake. I probably take 3-4 times the amount of time that others would take to churn out the same products. Eg : it took me 11 hours to bake and pack 330 cookies.
You probably hear this a lot - running a biz is like a rollercoaster ride and it’s not easy. Well, it’s true, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So to say thank you for keeping me going, on 10/10, Twice Young will be offering free islandwide delivery on all orders above $35
Place an order on www.wearetwiceyoung.com, key in 10/10 in “delivery date” box and transfer the stated amount without the shipping fee! Or simply place an order via DM. Orders have to be placed by 6th October 2359 (because I need to make the ice cream and cookie dough!!)
Drop me a DM if you have any questions okay! 🥳 Thank you for being part of my journey ❤️

MỘT SỐ IDIOMS HAY:
- the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree: a child usually has similar qualities to their parents.
Eg: “It’s not unusual that you have the same interests as your mother. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
- to follow in someone’s footsteps: to try to achieve the same things that someone else (usually a family member) has already done.
Eg: I decided to go into law instead of medicine. I thought about following in my father’s footsteps and becoming a surgeon, but I don’t think I’d make a great doctor.
- like father, like son: sons tend to be similar to their fathers. We normally use this idiom to talk about personality, interests, and character
Eg: Jimmy is tall just like his father, and they have the same smile. Like father, like son.
- to run in the family: many members of the family have that quality, skill, interest, problem, disease, etc.
Eg: Heart disease runs in my family. I try to have a healthy diet and get plenty of exercise.
- the apple of one’s eye: Someone’s favorite or most cherished person is the apple of their eye. We often use this idiom to talk about a parent and their child.
Eg: Our grandson is the apple of our eye. We absolutely adore him.
- get along with (or get on with): If two people get along with (or get on with) each other, it means that they like each other and have a friendly relationship. (Get along with is American English, and get on with is British English.)
Eg: If you have a large family, there will likely be some people who don’t get along with each other.
- (just) one big happy family: If a group of people is (just) one big happy family, it means that a group of people (often a family) get along and work well together. We sometimes use this idiom sarcastically.
Eg: Our firm has been successful because of our close-knit relationship. We’re one big happy family.
- bad blood: there is anger or hate between people people due to something that happened in the past.
Eg: Are you sure you want to invite all of your cousins to your party? Isn’t there bad blood between two of them?
- Bring home the bacon: kiếm tiền nuôi gia đình
Eg: My mom – as a housewife, she does all the household chores, while my dad – as an officer, works outside and brings home the bacon.
- Black sheep of the family: khác biệt
Being the black sheep of the family, I’m the only one who works as artist, while my parents are both teachers.
- Men make houses, women make homes: đàn ông xây nhà, đàn bà xây tổ ấm
Folks rumoured that men make houses, women make homes. So, in Viet Nam, men often work outside to earn money, while women takes care for home.

Eg: These days, it’s far more usual for men to be a stay-at-home parent than when I was young when it was always the mother who looked after the kids.

I share my story about mental illness with Dr Farihah of HDOK , Sandakan.
I think first of all, I would like to clarify what STIGMA and DISCRIMINATION means because sometimes the two are confused with each other.
STIGMA - someone sees you in a negative way because of your mental illness
DISCRIMINATION - someone treats you in a negative way because of your mental illness
So STIGMA happens when a person defines someone by their illness rather than WHO they are as an individual. For example, they might be labelled “psychotic” rather than “a person experiencing psychosis”.
Second is to understand what is a mental illness
There are many different conditions that are recognised as mental illnesses. The more common types are:
Anxiety disorders
Mood disorders (eg Bipolar)
Psychotic disorders - hallucinations, delusions , schizophrenia
Eating disorders - Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge eating
Impulse Control & Addiction disorders (kleptomaniac, pyromania, compulsive gambling)
Personality disorders
OCS
PTSD
Seven Things You Can Do to Reduce Stigma
* Know the facts. Educate yourself about mental illness including substance use disorders.
* Be aware of your attitudes and behaviour. Examine your own judgmental thinking, reinforced by upbringing and society.
* Choose your words carefully. The way we speak can affect the attitudes of others.
* Educate others. Pass on facts and positive attitudes; challenge myths and stereotypes.
* Focus on the positive. Mental illness, including addictions, are only part of anyone's larger picture.
* Support people. Treat everyone with dignity and respect; offer support and encouragement.
* Include everyone. It's against the law to deny jobs or services to anyone with these health issues.
