#失身記展訊

This February, “Bodyless” was nominated for the 2021 “SMART” category by the FIPADOC International Documentary Festival held in Biarritz, France. Starting on June 12, the exhibition will be available online due to the pandemic.

FIPADOC focuses on innovative and original productions. It has held many technical forums to exchange ideas from the very beginning, gathering professionals, directors, audiences, and students to participate from around the world. The “SMART” category is meant to provide a platform for new media productions, allowing audiences to have the opportunity to experience different stories via interactive technology, other than the typical experience from film screens or TVs.

今年二月時，法國比亞里茨(Biarritz)國際紀錄片節( FIPADOC International Documentary Festival) 公布《失身記》（Bodyless）入圍2021年FIPADOC的「SMART」競賽單元，而展覽因爲疫情改由線上展出，將在6/12開展囉！

Fipadoc - International Documentary Festival 聚焦在創新的原創作品，開辦以來曾舉辦過不少技術交流論壇，齊聚全球專業人士、導演、觀眾與學生參與。而SMART單元 是 FIPADOC 提供給以新媒體創作的空間平台，展出的作品讓觀眾有機會接觸以科技技術體驗故事的互動方式，帶給觀眾不同於電影布幕或電視的經驗！

The three performers of The White Waters.

Choreographer/ Dancer: I-Ling Liu(劉奕伶)
Resides in Queens, New York, I-Ling Liu [ee-ling-liou] 劉奕伶, a dance artist originally from Taiwan and received a BFA from Taipei National University of the Arts in 2005, was a former member of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company for 11 years and becomes one of the repetiteurs who re-stages BTJ/AZ’s works and enjoys sharing her knowledge as a performer. In 2018 she was a soloist in Luca Veggetti’s work and performed in Bologna, Italy. I-Ling has been creating and displaying her works as well as collaborating with visual artists, photographers, musicians, directors and actors in theater and film. Her work has been presented throughout New York City. She was one of the recipients of Dance in Queens Awardees: Space Exploration from Topaz Arts in 2012 and Explore the Metropolis Choreographer + Composer Residency in 2019.

Video performer: Popcorn 爆米花
Popcorn is a New Zealand Drag Creature based in Taipei. Against the backdrop of Taiwan’s cultural awakening, a new genre is stepping front of stage as Taipei begins to snap at Bangkok’s heels as the drag queen capital of Asia. Popcorn is part of this phenomenon and one of Taipei’s most prestigious drag queens. More information about him on IG account “taipei.popcorn”.

Video performer: Ling (鍾苡綾)
Ling (Jong Yi Ling) is a model and also an internet influencer based in Taiwan, better known as "as22434ling" on instagram. Ling loves to use desire and lust as a source of inspiration, using photography as a medium to explore the unknown ambiguity.

🇺🇸 We are often asked about the opening sequence of the film. Many people wonder if the amazing underwater shots are a 3D simulation?! Well, no! We have spent 28 days in Tahiti filming the incredible free diver Sachiko Fukumoto and her freediving multi-world champion partner William Trubridge with the whales to capture these « one in a life time » moments for the beginning of the film. The two directors @mikova.anastasia and @yannarthusbertrand wanted the film to open in a poetic way, suggesting the idea of birth: that of a woman but also that of the universe. By the way Sachiko was herself pregnant during the shooting and gave birth to a little girl a few months later.
