Personally I seldom (almost never) eat these commercially-made buns. Nothing against them, but I try to make better food choices if possible.

Today I saw this, and I was “Wah! So many flavours now??”. 😮

In this episode, we headed down to Carnivore to rampage through a Brazilian AYCE Steakhouse Buffet! Carnivore, located at Chijmes, is a Churrascaria, which is a buffet restaurant that specialises in Churrasco (Spanish/Portuguese-style Grilled Meat). Only offering dinner service, prices range from $59++ to $69++ depending on the day for an all-you-can-eat Brazilian buffet.

Due to the Covid-19, their usual salad bar, where you could pick 15 different hot and cold sides, is now an ala minute service. Sides range from the iconic Brazilian dish, Feijoada, which is a black bean stew cooked with chunks of beef and pork, to salads.

Their meats are still served similar to the standard rodizio style, where meat waiters roam around with skewers of delectable meat, offering portions to tables. However, the carving is done at an isolated table and a designated staff member brings it to your table upon request. Choices range from beef, chicken, lamb, fish and pork, including beef hump, beef short ribs, beef brisket, chicken hearts, butterfish and lamb leg.

Realising that having them serve me their usual way would be too slow, I brought my giant plate along and had them plate a sumptuous meat feast. I got every single one of their grilled meats, rounding it off with their feijoada set. The feijoada set actually stood on its own very well versus the grilled food. The combination of the stew, garlic rice, sautéed kale and toasted cassava flour (farofa) brought many contrasting flavours and textures together in wonderfully pleasant fashion.

The standout meats would be the beef brisket, beef short rib and beef rump. Each were spectacularly tender and rich with a deep meaty flavour. Carnivore also offers a selection of sauces to go along with your meat, with the ideal one being chimichurri, a vinegar-heavy sauce that helps to cut through the fattiness of the meats.

For this video, we headed back to Little Sheep Hot Pot at Orchard Gateway to again DESTROY a premium Wagyu hotpot! Little Sheep is a hot pot-style restaurant chain that specialises in various prime cuts of meat, especially lamb. It does not offer a buffet option as many hotpot places do, but provides high-end ala carte choices for the hungry customer. We brought with us a special guest star, Yuqing (@b1gqing), a mega IG personality and budding Youtuber.



We ordered their main 2 broths: a traditional herbal broth, which comprised of over 20 spices and aromatics, with numerous whole cloves of garlic floating on top and designed to eliminate any “gamey” flavour and smell from lamb, and a spicy mala broth that was deep red due to a thick layer of chilli oil on top and with bits of dried chillies and Szechuan peppercorns with every ladleful.


I found that the meat went best with the traditional broth which was wonderfully flavourful, complementing the meat well and it was worth alternating with the mala broth which had a decent kick to it but was not overpoweringly spicy.


The star of the feast was of course, the choice cuts of meat given, including the supremely marbled wagyu beef and the invitingly aesthetic lamb. Every piece of meat was gorgeously presented and thinly shaven, so they cooked within seconds in the simmering cauldron of ambrosial broth with barely any chewing needed to swallow the cooked pieces. To round off the meal, we again washed down the meat with Draft Denmark, a beer which was mildly flavoured and easy on the palate.


As always, it was a fantastic experience and I would recommend it to all whose wallet permits.

今夜は早稲田の家系ラーメンへ!東京都新宿区にある『違う家』に再訪してきました！こちらは吉本芸人プロデュースのお店ということでも有名だそうで、この変わった店名はその方がオチで言うセリフに由来しているそうです！お店の特徴は、鶏油を使わずに鯛の脂を仕上げに使ったラーメンを提供しているということ。豚骨スープに濃厚な甘みのある鯛の脂というとても珍しい組み合わせですが、なかなかマッチして美味しいですよ！こちらのラーメンは乳化したタイプのクリーミーな味わい。また、油そばも提供しており、家系ながらも幅広いチョイスができてかつガツンとパンチのある味わいのラーメンが食べられます。そしてなんと言っても嬉しいのは、ライスが夕方17時まで1杯無料で麺の大盛りがいつでも無料なんです！近くには早稲田大学を始め専門学校や予備校がたくさんあり、学生さんからも大人気のお店だそうです！さあそれでは、その実食の模様をどうぞご覧ください！
Tonight, I went to Waseda's Iekei-ramen! We have revisited the “chigauka” in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo! This is also famous as a store produced by Yoshimoto entertainer, and this unusual store name seems to be derived from the line that it says in the end! The feature of the restaurant is that it offers ramen made from snapper fat without using chicken oil. It's a rare combination of pork bone soup and rich snapper fat, but it's quite a match and delicious! This ramen is an emulsified creamy taste. Abura-soba is also served, so you can eat ramen that has a wide range of choices, but has a strong taste and punch. And I'm glad to say that rice is free until 17:00 in the evening and a large serving of noodles is always free! There are many vocational schools and prep schools nearby, including Waseda University. Please take a look at the actual food!
