To me, food can be made with the simplest of ingredients but it will taste best when you are eating it with your loved ones. ❤️ #simplehomecooking #cookedwithlove
.
My humble dish of chicken macaroni soup from leftover homemade chicken stock and quickly put together with mushrooms, shredded chicken topped with a whole lotta love when my son says “Mama’s cooking is yummy!” 😭😭 #beyondhappyandblessed
.
[RECIPE] Boil chicken stock with meat and bones. Boil macaroni separately. Prepare ingredients like sliced mushrooms, mock crabmeat. Remove chicken and shred breast meat. Boil stock and ingredients, adding @liloikanbilis mushroom powder for added umami. Scoop macaroni in bowl, add soup and top with coriander (or fried shallots is just as yummy) Serve hot ❤️

My kids are loving the NEW 50% less sugar @milosingapore during this #cb time at home too! ☺️

Happy kids after a simple homecooked dinner last night.
If there's one thing I really don't like the kids to do, it's wasting food. Since they were young, I don't let them be picky about food and make sure that they try their best to finish everything on their plates. I nag at times - or actually every day - and remind them about how every grain of rice is precious and a result of hard work (谁知盘中餐,粒粒皆辛苦, 对吗?) , how we are blessed to even have food on our table and how we need to learn to cherish the things that we are given in life.
Here are some tips on how I get them to finish everything in their bowls/on their plates:
- Serve in small portions. If they are not full, they can always get a second helping. It makes the food look more appetizing and easier to finish.
- Cut up the chunks of food, especially when it comes to veggies (which they don't get to say "I don't want to eat") or new food that I want them to try.
- Try out new recipes to attract them but also stick to the dishes that are family favourites. We also add a little bit of seasoning - but not too much - now that the kids are older.
- Get them to help out in the kitchen. This is the best way so far because the kids take pride when they see the final dishes and are more inclined to eat finish up the food or so called their fruits of labour.
In this year's Clean Plate Challenge, @foodfromtheheartsg is encouraging everyone to spread the message of “ending each meal with a clean plate at home". Simply post a photo/video on IG with a caption sharing how you and your family reduce food wastage at home, tag @foodfromtheheartsg and hashtag #cleanplatecampaign and #cleanplatechallenge2019.
I definitely hope to see more clean bowls and plates after a meal and better still, for them to wash up all the dishes for me. Haha.

In Singapore, most of us eat really well but there are also a lot of underprivileged families struggling to make ends meet on a tight budget. We partnered with Food from the Heart to create recipes using items from their School Goodie Bag programme, with a budget of around $5 dollars to make meal that feeds a family.
We came up with LaLa Bee Hoon which is similar to the popular white bee boon dish using clams as the main item, cooked with red rice vermicelli from the School Goodie Bag by Food from the Heart. The clams provide the sweetness to the dish.
Do support the Food from the Heart and their School Goodie Bag Programme. The programme started 14 years ago with the belief that no child should ever go to school hungry.
Working with neighbourhood schools, Food from the Heart support students under the Financial Assistance Scheme by providing monthly food packs. These food packs help defray living expenses by supplementing basic food necessities such as rice, vermicelli, milk and cooking oil. All it takes to support a student and their family is S$55 for a month, or S$660 for a year – just S$1.81 per day.
