We didn’t wait till we were ready, we just took the risk and said ‘YES’ to the opportunity when it was presented to us.
It’s been slightly more than a month since our fitness charity event with Voice For Paws, a non-profit organisation that rescues, rehabilitates and rehouses strays in Malaysia.
Back then, Kevin and I were working on having a space to train our clients and we figured before that happens, it would be amazing to first introduce @movementdynamicsfit through a collaborative effort for a ‘Paw-sitive’ cause. We both love animals and are huge supporters of animal adoptions, so it only made sense to join forces with an NGO to raise funds & awareness about a cause that is close to our hearts.
At Movement Dynamics, we strive to help our clients embrace the winners in them and become relentless in pursuing the goals they set for themselves.
Through constant education, support and accountability, we coach our clients to take back control of their lives starting with their bodies and health.
We wanted to motivate and encourage people to adopt a healthier lifestyle while contributing to a great cause at the same time.
We had only 2 weeks to set up the entire event and of course just like any event planning and management, there were hiccups along the way which we were grateful for. Grateful for the lessons because we learned so much from this experience which we can apply to our next event to make the experience better for us and everyone else.
Situations and ideas are fluid, so if we adopt an adaptable mindset and play to our strengths, it makes the process easier.
I just wanna say, thank you to my family members and friends for showing up and moving for our furry friends 🐶
I hope everyone had a great time with us!
A big shoutout to my partner, @kevinkhaandor for being so open and supportive of my ideas. Don’t think I could do this without you!

Giving is not just about making a donation. It’s about making a difference.
Let’s donate, share their movement with your friends and family, and support each other amidst this crisis.
#StayAtHome #StaySafe #HelpEachOther
P.S. I’ve donated and shared these movements as their aim is kind & meaningful. I don’t find it necessary to post Donation receipts on social media as that is not the point of charity. Let’s put the focus in the right place and support them all we can! 🤗

SPCAKK is one animal shelter I try to create as much awareness and support to because I’ve seen how hard-working and passionate their small team work in getting funding and love channeled to the care and shelter of these furry friends (most are rescued from abuse or are abandoned pets - why do pet owners do that? It really makes me mad!)
SPCAKK shelter is doing *slightly* better than before thanks to the generous donors but the upkeep still requires maintenance, food and healthcare for the sick animals and at least some remuneration for the 2-3(?) workers who take care of the place.
Some kind angel donated her land for them to move all the animals to and my friends from Downbelow Adventures literally built the new cat shelter with their bare hands! (The poor cats were living in small cages prior to the shelter) 😥
Monthly donations are great — It is tax exempted. Or if you can just spread the word about pets looking for new homes to stay? That would be great?
Lots of love,
Daphne
REQUEST FOR MONTHLY DONATIONS TO THE SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS, KOTA KINABALU (SPCA KK)
The plight of homeless dogs and cats is a serious problem in Sabah and we, at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Kota Kinabalu (SPCA KK) strive to give hope and a second chance at life to the many homeless animals out there.
Since our inception in 2006, we have been at the forefront in tackling the many issues of animal cruelty in Kota Kinabalu and surrounding areas. We have rescued countless number of cats & dogs from dire circumstances, provided the necessary veterinary treatment, rehabilitation care and found them new homes.
Thanks to the many generous donations and endless hours/days/weeks/months/years of support given by volunteers and the staff team we are making a big difference to many lives.
On 18th February 2017 we moved to our new permanent location at Kg Gana where through public support we were able to build dog runs, a cattery and staff accommodation. We still have a very long road ahead and as a non-government organisation, our work is solely funded by public donations.
Recently some of our committee members and volunteers visited other rescue centres located in Thailand & Peninsular Malaysia. We found that a major success factor for them is the support they get from local corporates. They asked local companies to make a monthly donation to cover certain monthly operation fees, for example a workers salary, food, logistics, medication etc …. Having a guaranteed amount of money donated monthly enabled them to make real long term commitments and plans. We would love to do the same in Sabah.
We are therefore making a plea to kind local companies who could donate an amount of money per month. So far one company has stepped forward. Since March 2017 Downbelow Marine & Wildlife Adventures S/B have donated MYR 1400.00 per month to cover the workers salary for the cattery they built for us earlier this year. If we can find more such companies the difference this will make will be tremendous.
There are benefits for companies and individuals that get on board with this initiative.
All monetary donations are tax exempt.
We will feature your company on a new website page we are developing to give thanks and recognition to our supporters.
We will also give social media shout-outs of gratitude to your company for the support you give which will enable us to do so much more.
So bosses and owners, please ask yourself, is your company in a position to help the cats and dogs out there? Employees ask your bosses and owners if they can help support us.
Here is an idea of just some of the approximate costs we would love to cover through this initiative.
Food: MYR 9,550.00
Medical: 10,000.00
Staff Salaries: RM10,000
Utilities: 1,200.00
Cat Litter, Fuel, Insurance: 1,500.00
Miscellaneous: MYR 1850.00
TOTAL APPROX: MYR 34,000.00 per month
Just imagine if we can get the support of local companies. We already see incredibility generous donations from individuals, just this month a kind individual donated her monthly bonus ion MYR 160.00 for which we are so grateful. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE !
If you should require further information, please contact our fund raising committee members, Ms Jenny Chung at 016 880 5400 or Ms Ngu Yun at 011 1268 1253.
We would like to share with you some images of our Rehabilitation & Adoption Centre at Kg Gana and give thanks and gratitude to the individuals and companies so far that have made this happen. We are very proud of what we have achieved and very excited for what we can achieve with the support of the local community. Lets make animal welfare count!
