各位同學準備好迎接權力遊戲 (Game of Thrones) 第5季首播 (Season 5 Premier)了嗎? 老師時常在課堂上聽到同學們提到這部作品，就讓我們來認識一下這齣精彩的影集吧!
「冰與火之歌：權力遊戲」是由HBO自製的科幻電視影集 (fantasy television series)，本部作品以作家喬治·R·R·馬丁的《冰與火之歌》系列小說作為基礎進行改編 (adapted from George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire)，而整個系列中的第一部小說就名為“權力遊戲”(Game of Thrones)。
故事設置在維斯特洛的七個王國 (Seven Kingdoms of Westeros)，權力遊戲主要是在講述王國的七個貴族家族 (seven noble families) 爭奪鐵王座的權力鬥爭 (struggle for control of the Iron Throne)；在劇集之初，來自維斯特洛北部區域的冰雪以及狹海以東大陸的威脅逐步加重 (additional threats emerge)。
維斯特洛大部分的土地上的許多城堡和騎士競技場景 (scenes of castles and knightly tournaments) 等，時常會讓人回想起中古西歐 (Medieval Western Europe) 全盛時期的種種畫面，整部劇的知名度 (the series’ great popularity) 一部分來自於作者本身對於各項題材完美的結合 (comes from the writer's skill at fusing multiple elements into a seamless whole) ，以及獨特的非主流歷史性詮釋手法 (unique and alternative historical interpretation)，每一集那爾虞我詐的氛圍和劇情 (intrigue-filled plot) ，再搭配上魔法跟龍 (magic and dragons) 等事物的虛構環境 (fictional surrounding)，其實讓許多觀眾非常熱愛，當然，豐富的劇情 (a rich plot) 與人物 (a wide cast of characters) 也是賣點之一。從美麗、高貴的 Daenerys 到精明算計的Tyrion也都相當耐人尋味 (provide much food for thought)。
