Today’s teaching is about how to succeed in your workplace as a child of God.
Stressful toil came as part of the curse upon Adam. This was not the way before he fell.
“To Adam he said, “Because you have listened to your wife’s voice, and ate from the tree, about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ the ground is cursed for your sake. You will eat from it with much labor all the days of your life. It will yield thorns and thistles to you; and you will eat the herb of the field. By the sweat of your face will you eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”” (Genesis 3:17-19 WEB)
Before that, God had designed for Adam to sow seeds and reap abundant harvests. God gave seeds to Adam, and when Adam planted these seeds, they sprang up quickly and bore fruits.
“God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.” (Genesis 1:29 WEB)
At that time, the whole earth had a fine mist canopy watering it. This meant that Adam didn’t even have to water the seeds. It was so restful for him.
We have to understand that we have been redeemed through Jesus’ blood. We are not meant to operate under the Adamic curse, but under the redemption we have in Christ.
If you are pushing yourself to work very hard in your job, profession, business, or ministry, in order to increase your results, this is operating by the curse: stressful toil in exchange for little fruits.
Then when your results don’t justify the hard work you’re putting in, you’ll get burnt out and angry at God, questioning why things are not moving well for you.
God has a better way for you to succeed in your workplace.
Whatever you want more of, you can sow the same thing as a seed, as unto the Lord, in order to reap it in a multiplied way.
When the little boy handed his meal of five loaves of bread and two small fishes as unto Jesus, it was multiplied to feed five thousand men (not counting the women and children), and there were twelve baskets full of food left over (John 6:8-13).
Jesus’ blood shed at the cross has made your sowing bear fruitful results. Previously before you were saved, your sowing only produced thorns and thistles. However, now that you are a child of God, you enjoy God’s favor and your sowing is powerfully effective. Sowing and reaping is a principle for the redeemed children of God.
“I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brothers that they would go before to you, and arrange ahead of time the generous gift that you promised before, that the same might be ready as a matter of generosity, and not of greediness. Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work. As it is written, “He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever.” Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness; you being enriched in everything to all liberality, which produces through us thanksgiving to God.” (2 Corinthians 9:5-11 WEB)
If you want to enjoy multiplied results at work, think of how you can be a blessing to others first. If you want more business deals, see how you can bless others with deals. If you want to enjoy good relationships with your boss and colleagues, see how you can be an encourager, comforter and a good friend to others. If you want to grow your network, see how you can be a person who connects others to the people they need.
Rely on the Holy Spirit to lead you how to do these, in every situation, receiving His wisdom and power to do so.
The way of Kingdom prosperity is giving. The more you give, the more it is multiplied in abundance back to you.
Thanks to Grace, we can expect to receive abundantly above all that we can think or imagine because it is by God’s generosity and not by our limited ability.
I pray that as you operate by this New Covenant principle, that you will enjoy restful increase and unceasing fruitfulness at your workplace!

The Los Angeles Lakers proved they are more than a two-man team.
With Shaquille O'Neal on the injured list and Kobe Bryant struggling, the Lakers received significant contributions from others in rallying from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter for an 88-82 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in a rematch of the 2001 NBA Finals.
Samaki Walker made the start at center and collected a season-high 18 points to go with 10 rebounds while Stanislav Medevedenko added 12 points for Los Angeles after O'Neal was placed on the injured list with toe problems.
"Well, that was a good win for our team," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "A lot of momentum in the second half, good defense and an enthusiastic crowd behind us is a big help for us."
Philadelphia was in control through the first three quarters and took a 73-60 advantage on a basket by Corie Blount with 9:34 remaining. Bryant had just four points on 2-of-14 shooting through three quarters as he was clearly hampered by a strained muscle in his rib cage.
But his jumper triggered a 19-2 run that gave Los Angeles the lead for good at 79-75 with 4:17 to play. Lindsey Hunter had a pair of 3-pointers in the burst, including one that gave the Lakers a 77-75 lead.
"I think defensively we turned it up a lot," Hunter said. "We limited them to one shots, created some turnovers. It was a really good defensive effort by everybody."
A basket by Dikembe Mutombo pulled the Sixers within 79-77 with 2:41 remaining before Bryant finally got his game untracked. He scored a pair of baskets and Robert Horry converted two foul shots to extend to 85-77 with 27 seconds to go.
"I was just waiting and pacing myself throughout the game for the right time to find my shots," Bryant said. "And it came in the fourth."
Philadelphia made one last charge as Matt Harpring's 3-pointer cut the deficit to 85-82 with 14 seconds left. Devean George made one free throw and Allen Iverson turned over the ball on the next possession to seal the Sixers' fate.
"We had this one in the bag," Iverson said. "We gave this one away. We gave them a gift, a Christmas gift."
Despite his struggles, Bryant just missed a triple-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Brian Shaw scored 13 points off the bench and Horry added 11 boards.
But the production of Walker and Medevedenko was a major surprise for two players who entered the contest averaging a combined 9.7 points. Walker made 7-of-9 shots while Medevedenko converted 6-of-8.
"Today I was a little more aggressive," Walker said. "I knew where to move and felt a lot more comfortable."
Iverson led all scorers with 31 points for Philadelphia, which was limited to six field goals in the fourth quarter. The Sixers committed seven of their 15 turnovers in the final quarter.
"We came out in the fourth quarter and made some driving plays and all of a sudden, we started shooting jumpers and they started making them," Sixers coach Larry Brown said. "We think we're going to outscore somebody and that's not how we play."
Mutombo had 12 points and 13 rebounds while Derrick Coleman also had a double-double with 12 and 10. But the Sixers dropped the opener of a seven-game Western Conference road trip and have lost six of seven on the road.
"We don't finish games out," Iverson said. "The stuff worked, we just had to stay with it. You have to keep playing defense, obviously. When stuff works, you have to keep doing it."

Overtime hardly helped Allen Iverson's bid for the scoring title, but it did help the Philadelphia 76ers wrap up sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
Iverson scored 33 points, including a rainbow jumper with eight seconds left that forced overtime, and the 76ers scored the last eight points in a 105-100 victory over the Detroit Pistons, who had a six-game winning streak snapped.
Iverson scored only two points in the extra session, a pair of clinching free throws with 28 seconds to go. He gleefully dribbled out the clock instead of adding to his total, leaving him with a final average of 26.75.
"I felt like when you just get your driver's license and you get a brand new car to drive," Iverson said. "I felt great and the crowd being into it the way they were, it was like a gift to the people that supported us all year long. Now we can give something back."
Los Angeles Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal needed 40 points tonight against Portland to surpass Iverson, but managed just 18, making Iverson the first 76er since Wilt Chamberlain in 1965-66 to win the crown.
"I don't want to send a message that I was doing all the scoring for the title," said Iverson, who led the league in shots. "I did all that to help my team win. I'm the scorer on the team; that's why I shoot the ball as much as I do."
"Everyone in this room should be excited if he wins the scoring title," Sixers coach Larry Brown said. "My thoughts and hopes coming into tonight were that we would play well, get the victory and that Allen would win the scoring title without us having to do anything outside or our normal game."
With his mother a frequent fan at the First Union Center and his biggest supporter, Iverson has heard chants of "MVP, MVP" along with the chance to lead the league in scoring.
"A championship ring, that's the most important thing to me," Iverson said. "Not MVP or the scoring title. I'd rather have a championship."
The 76ers allowed 100 points for only the seventh time this year but no more, holding the Pistons scoreless over the final 2:44. Inside baskets by Matt Geiger, Tyrone Hill and rookie Larry Hughes in an 85-second span turned a three-point deficit into a 103-100 lead with 41 seconds left.
In the playoffs for the first time since 1991, Philadelphia (28-22) finished sixth in the East and will face third-seeded Orlando in the first round. The Sixers were 2-1 against the Magic this season, with each team winning at home.
"We can't just say `We've had success against Orlando' and just go through the motions," Sixers guard Aaron McKie said. "We have to go out there and play hard."
Iverson shot just 11-of-28 and had plenty of help. Hill had 21 points and nine rebounds, Geiger added 20, 16 and eight assists and Eric Snow had a career-high 20 points and 10 assists. The Sixers went 3-1 against the Pistons this season.
Grant Hill scored 27 points for Detroit (29-21), which finished fifth in the East and will face Atlanta in the opening round. The Pistons went 2-1 against the Hawks.
"We're confident going into the playoffs," Pistons coach Alvin Gentry said. "It's a tough matchup with Atlanta. They're a very good basketball team."
"If we play good basektball, we've got a shot to beat them," said Hill, who has yet to win a playoff series in his five-year career.
