Housed in one of the stately mansions in Georgetown, Banana Beer Hauz is the only restaurant found in Banana Boutique Hotel. It is easy to spot the boutique hotel but it is not a place that people would associate it with food. The exterior may seem overly simple but step in the place and you will be amazed by the beauty of old heritage design, gorgeously preserved from the past. You will be escorted to the main dining hall which has some basic tables and chairs. There's also a pond right in front of the dining area, bigger groups may request to take the private rooms (plenty of them) at the side. One would expect Nyonya or Western dishes here but the menu features quite a range of local delights- from Mee Udang to Hokkien Mee or Thai-styled noodles as well as various stir fries. Seafood is one of the key highlights here but fret not, items are reasonably priced here. The place also serves alcohols and could be a nice place for your evening chill outs.

Mae Salong is one of the most popular Thai restaurants in Sungai Petani, at the south of Kedah. It only takes a little more than half an hour drive to Sungai Petani from Penang, the town is less-busier than Penang but has many hidden gems around. Ask any Sungai Petani folks to recommend Thai food and most would suggest Mae Salong. The restaurant is a little off the beaten track and it takes a while to locate... imagine you need to go through winding, narrow village road to get there. The restaurant was established in early 2010 and has since become the de-facto Thai restaurant in town. It occupies a huge piece of land, the owner turned it into a "secret garden" surrounded by tropical trees with a pond in the middle. Dining tables are being setup on wooden structures to give you the "back to nature" impression. If you are lucky enough, you may catch some wildlife (like monkeys) over there or caged pets (like Rabbits, Chickens). There are ample choices for Thai food and all of them are reasonably priced.
Tom Yum Seafood (Rm 22/ small)

[🥢Chinese Eating custom]
Finally it's this time again, the time my instagram will be filled with all kinds of Chinese New Year food porns.
2019 Chinese New Year: Feb.04
🥣Before dining with us, it's always better to know some eating customs beforehand to blend in faster👌
-----
1. Round tables
When it comes to Chinese reunion, are you picturing a red round table? Yep, that is it.
In our tradition, we use round tables because it symbolizes satisfactory and splendid.
It comes from the Chinese word 圓滿(Yuánmǎn)。Which 圓 means Round and 滿 means full.
2. 📐No Table Corners
Like the table my family has, we either have round tables or tables without sharp corners. That's because we have a saying: the person who sits in front of the table corner will be unpopular.
It comes from Taiwanese 撿角(Jiǎn jiǎo)= taking the corner, which means "this person is hopeless.
3. ‼️No chopsticks into your food‼️
This is extremely important! Which is a big mistake not only foreigners do, but also children do it all the time.
In Chinese culture we do this only to worship people who passed away. So definitely be aware of this!
4. 🥣Do not Knock the bowl with your chopstick
In other countries tapping your drinking glass with knife or fork might be a way to ask for attention, but in our culture only beggars do that (with a bowl) on the street to ask for money.
5. Extra Chopsticks
This might not be so common nowadays, but sometimes when dining with a group of people you might find an extra pair of chopstick in the middle of the table or for each person.
We don't have extra chopsticks for dessert🤣 it is for you to get the food in the middle, instead of using the one you just put in your mouth.
-----------------------------------------
This year is the first time for me to not be with my family during Chinese new year, although I'm a bit sad about it, one tiny part of me is really glad to escape one thing😛 ...check👇

Recently #siennylovesdrawing has dined @ Go Thai Ss2 with her family members ??♂️??♀️ for Happy Mother’s Day celebration
This is a non halal -storey restaurant, it served pork & alcohol beverages
Ordered the new 6 star menu set which just started in May 2018
According to her preference ranking ya,
1. Stewed pork leg with egg ? ~ Must try!! It’s so well cooked, the juicy tender meat with fat skins (beauty collagen for females ya ) Very tasty delicious
2. The famous drunken flat rice noodles ~ Very tasty to enjoy
3. Green curry rice balls ~ Love the green curry fragrance while I bite on it
4. The Thai chef ?? ‘s special mixed platter ~ Love the use of traditional tray. The Sum Tum aka papaya salad so addictive to enjoy
5. Omelet with crab meat ~ Hmm...Due to too stuff with its rich ingredients, so it’s slightly hard & slightly over-fried too. Have personally informed the business director ??? that night. Wish in next visit, will enjoy it ya
6. Tom Yam ? Seafood ~ A slight salty when enjoyed it solely, however it tastes just all right & nice with rice ya
Enjoyed the freshly made dessert ~Tako with water chestnuts, pandan leaves & coconut milk Tasty to enjoy & not too sweet
A comfy & nice ambiance especially with its glass wall to enhance the overall space impression. The simple tables & stools style as if you’re enjoying street foods
She was impressed when the waiter ??♂️brought & changed her parents’ stools to a more comfy leaning steel chairs comparatively, just so thoughtful in customer services for elderly. Bravo!! Keep it up ya
Do enjoy this dining clip captured 1st, then do stay tune for her dining blogging via siennylovesdrawing.wordpress.com
