“Bildungsroman”

In literary criticism, a Bildungsroman (German pronunciation: [ˈbɪldʊŋs.ʁoˌmaːn]; "Bildung", meaning "education", and "Roman", meaning "novel"; English: "novel of formation, education, culture"; "coming-of-age story") is a literary genre that focuses on the psychological and moral growth of the protagonist from youth to adulthood (coming of age), in which character change is important.

As languages are becoming extinct at an alarming rate, speakers of endangered languages are turning to technology in a race against time to pass on their unique languages and cultures to the next generation.

Thanks to the benefits of artificial intelligence for language documentation and learning, AI is becoming more important than ever in the fight to save endangered languages.

Jason Lovell was learning the Indigenous language of New Zealand, te reo Māori, but didn’t have anyone to practice with – so he co-founded a Facebook Messenger chatbot powered by IBM Watson artificial intelligence that understands and replies to users in both te reo Māori and English. Even if users make typos or spelling mistakes, “Reobot,” Lovell’s chatbot, has no problem understanding. Lovell hopes to introduce pronunciation help in the near future. By providing learners with the opportunity to converse in te reo Māori no matter where they are during the day, Reobot can help learners develop confidence and skills more quickly.

So I've been back to Vancouver for a few days now and I'm already feeling the pressure, from work, school work, graduation, and all the errands and adult stuff. It feels good to be back to school because it's literally my last semester at UBC though I feel that I'm not prepared yet.

December still feels unreal to me. I guess I live a very different life in Vancouver than in Hong Kong. It's almost as if I have 2 lives.

#2017 is going to be challenging but I'm very excited to see all the changes and growth I'm about to make this year. Graduation, post-grad trip, finally joining the work force etc.

On the note of graduation, I was asked to clarify the pronunciation of my name, which is sweet. However, I have no idea how to clarify the pronunciation of my last name "Ng". It's not "Eng" which some believe. It's actually like "mmmm" with your mouth open (imagine uttering "ung" without the "ugh" sound). The struggle...sigh

2014年3月9日/Y:2歳4ヶ月　He practices 1 phrase of the song of Anpan-man, and he shows it.
His conventional pronunciation was 'Mamorutane'.
However, he became able to sing in a right text(Mamorutame) :)

2013年11月28日/Y:2歳1ヶ月　"Ootami" of the words that he says is a wolf(Ookami).
He cannot say "Ka" only when he says Ookami. :)
The mom points out a mistake and demands right pronunciation from him.
However, his pronunciation is not cured. Hahaha
However, as for him, a wolf does expression of chewing at one gulp.
He seems to understand that a wolf is a ferocious animal.
Ootami...Hahaha

2013年10月26日/R:4歳4ヶ月　She challenges a tongue twister.
Namamugi, Namagome, Namatamago(Raw wheat, raw rice, and raw egg)
However, she calls Namamugi a Namagumi, and she cannot pronounce a correct Namamugi. Hahaha
Even if we point out a mistake, she says Namagumi many times.
She was not able to say pronunciation of Namamugi after all.
