大致就是美國科學家搭潛水艇探險到全世界海洋的最深處 (Mariana Trench – the base of what is ominously called the ‘hadal zone’ after Hades, Greek god of the underworld)，中國上個月宣布他們將會下去探勘。美國科學家先他們一步，並且帶了個台灣人下去。
除了研究目的，也有政治含義，跟中國說：哈哈哈，不爽嗎？

在冥界，掌管生死的是被稱為「摩伊賴」（Moirai, The Fates）的三位命運女神──克洛托（Clotho）、拉刻西斯（Lachesis）和阿特羅波斯（Atropos）。克洛托負責紡織出生命線，拉斯西斯負責量度生命線長短，阿特羅波斯則負責剪斷生命線。
而人類的生命會有不同種的結束方式，由不同的死神控制。傳說死神塔納托斯（Thanatos）只會帶來平和、平靜的死亡，死亡女神克蕾絲（Keres）則會帶來暴力、痛苦的死亡。

After Hades, the king of the underworld kidnapped Persephone, Demeter was very sad. She kept searching for her daughter and did not care if the crops died. Zeus, the King of the Gods sent a messenger to work a deal with Hades. The deal was if Persephone would marry Hades, she would live in the Underworld for six months. In the spring, Persephone would return to earth and live there for six months. Every fall, when Persephone returned to the underworld, Demeter ignored the crops and fields. Each spring, Demeter made sure flowers were blooming and crops were growing to welcome her daughter's return.
在陰間統治者黑帝斯綁架泊瑟芬後，狄蜜特非常傷心。她持續尋找女兒，不在乎作物是否會死亡。眾神之王宙斯派遣使者與黑帝斯達成協議。這協議是如果泊瑟芬與黑帝斯結婚，她將在陰間生活六個月。在春天，她將返回地面並在那裡生活六個月。每當秋天泊瑟芬回到陰間時，狄蜜特就會忽視農作物和田地。每年春天，狄蜜特則會確保鮮花盛開與作物成長來迎接女兒的歸來。
