Finally got my first pair of Univet Dental Loupes, and I just gotta thanks Maco Siow from Titan Dental Solutions for being so accommodating since the day I ordered the loupes! 🦷
Mine is the Techne Asian Fitting 3.0x magnification loupes (with my name engraved on it!😍), which costs around RM7150.

Now the real questions:
• Why did I invest in a pair of loupes?
1. Although I’ve tried my best to maintain a proper posture while treating my patients, I still get neck pain and tension headaches after a long day.
Being health-conscious (or paranoid 😂), I opted for my loupes to be designed at a working field of 400mm (yes,they can adjust it to your liking!), which requires me to maintain a certain distance from my patient thus a better posture.
2. Certain dental procedures (eg. extensive restorations/crown prep/ endo) requires our eyes to be strained for a good few hours to get it done well. That really makes my eyes dry out and tired so I’m hoping this loupes can help in relieving the stress I’m causing to my body + enable me to visualise my working field better, producing better quality restorations in a shorter time!
• Why did I choose Univet but not other brands?
I’ve actually tried around a few brands prior purchase and I find some loupes good as they are adjustable (hence can be shared) + can go up to higher mags. Yet that makes it so heavy and my neck got even more strained despite the headband as the loupes are weighting on me.
Of course those loupes are good for certain procedures, but personally I would prefer a lighter one and can be worn without headband cuz I don’t want additional stress to my neck and...I really care about how my hair looks LOL😂
2. I can still look into my patient’s mouth as a whole without needing to take off the entire loupe.
• Why not choose higher magnifications?
Because it is more expensive. 😂 Also, I’m using it mainly for resto, so 3x is just nice for me. If you’re actively doing endo, go for the 6x!
