Background
Heng Yue Yen Long Kwon is a modern Chinese martial art. It was founded in Hong Kong in 1981 by Grandmaster Yuet-sing Au, Black Belt 10th Dan. Based on traditional Chinese kung fu, it brings together the best principles from several martial arts to offer modern, practical and efficient techniques.

Heng = Perseverance
Yue = universe, boundlessness, a symbol of wisdom and knowledge

How do you break a wooden board? Lionel will tell you all about it in this short video.
His kungfu group, Heng Yue Yen Long Kwon, was performing at a mid-autumn gala at Pacific Palisades, just down the road from us. It was a special occasion for him, his first time to break wood in public since he passed his black belt exam last weekend.
New black belts are given thin boards -- but they are pretty strong, I have to say, and I did not really feel like trying to smash one myself....
At the end of the show, instructor Dino performed a spectacular jump and sent a thick board flying in half over the kids lined up at the back.

Lionel and his kungfu group performed at a big trade fair in Hong Kong's Victoria Park just before Xmas.
He performed at the end of the show with other children. You first see them bowing and saying: "Heng Yue Yen Long Kwon" -- the name of the martial arts organisation.
Lionel is a green blue belt, and is at the opposite end of the stage.
Black belts are expected to break wooden boards. We took one broken board back home and tried to break it ourselves-- and yes, they are very, very hard.
Lionel's main teacher is Joyce, the lady in black with a long ponytail.
The fair is the 47th Hong Kong Brands and Products Exhibition (HKBPE)
