I have been suffering from multiple eating disorders and hypothalamic amenorrhea since 2017
After years of struggling, my thoughts towards food, and lifestyle have changed thoroughly
I can finally tell others that I am on the right track of recovery☺️
➖
At the beginning of my recovery journey, I was ravenously hungry all the time
Although I had made up my mind to stop the cycle of restricting and binging
The inner me had been focusing on not putting more fat on myself🙁
Let me tell you the three major mistakes that I made during my recovery journey ➖
☞ My diet is comprised of 100% whole food
‼️ Whole food is so hard to digest! What my body needs are those sugar and fat from the cake! Never satisfying your mental desires will only lead to a binge. This is the reason that we binge on processed food, instead of chicken breast and broccoli. Your body is trying to communicate with you & telling you its needs.
☞ I thought walking >10000 steps every day + weight training (a few times a week) = a healthy lifestyle
‼️ Just rest and move in an enjoyable way! Walking over 10000 steps, and training for me were only ways to burn off calories🚶🏻♀️This is definitely not a sustainable lifestyle, and of course, my missing period was not happy about that.
☞ Even when I started incorporating processed food in my diet, I refused to eat more than my TDEE.
‼️ Your body needs more calories than you think to recover from an eating disorder. From my experience, I can tell that you will never get recovered with a physique-focused mindset. Yes, this is brutal, you will gain weight. But trust me, it isn’t as scary as you think! (I have gained over 30lbs! And I genuinely accept the way that I look🙌🏻) Bear in mind that our values are not dependent on how we look. You all deserve every happiness~♥️

See! I made so many mistakes, but I hope these help you in your dark times!
REMINDER: As everyone's recovery is unique, I highly recommend you to seek help from a health professional for your specific needs.🥰
