It’s been awhile since I last posted a picture of me. Without Layla, without Deon, not in home clothes, not without makeup. Just me, post motherhood, looking stylish, glamorous and unfriendly. Haha!
While I must admit that it is nice to have chio photos to showcase on social media, however as I age, more and more so I relish being in the present. And that means, when I am with my daughter I spend quality time with her instead of trying to capture the perfect moment, and be spending quality time with my phone instead. Likewise, when I’m with my friends, at work, with my family, with Deon, having a nice meal, all dressed up for an event or an editorial shoot, when I’m cooking, reading a book, taking my daughter out to park, cycling, working out, etc. I am in that moment with them and myself. It is such a beautiful feeling to be able to be completely engaged in something I am doing, such a privilege to be spending quality time with myself especially after being a mom.
It is unfortunate that in this time and age, people often do things for the sake of presenting it to the rest of the world. There’s this weird mentality of, 'if I don’t show then it doesn’t count because people wouldn’t know that I have done it.'
I’m proud to say, those days where I needed external validation is over.
When I first started Instagram, it was because I wanted to document my life’s journey. I posted my first picture on 10 June 2011, it’s been a decade (OMG)! It’s been through so many stages of my life with me. The good times and the bad, many relationships, heartbreaks, marriage, vacations, wonderful meals, hairstyles, fashion, deaths, births. I am delighted that 10 years later, ive stayed authentic and shared only things that matters to me at that point in my life. it’s like a little journal that I keep. I may not put in much effort with showing ‘Instagram-worthy’ pictures, but I sure do with writing my thoughts.
So thank you guys, for being here with me all these years. For accepting my less than perfect photos, my bad grammar, my infrequent posts, my long-windedness, my non-existent replies and comments.
But here I am, what you see is what you get.

【Anna Kiesenhofer 的賽後訪問】
說什麼是通訊問題,還有什麼對手輕敵,所謂比賽就是沒有內定,先進終點的就是贏,你講的一堆理由聽起來像屁,看我通通打包丟進回收桶當廚餘......(嗯?最近看大嘻哈時代看得很入迷XD)
奧運女子公路賽金牌得主Anna Kiesenhofer的這則訪問裡,確實感覺得出相當有別於一般運動員會講的話,簡單的英文單字後面,感覺藏了很多故事,我抓出其中幾個很值得玩味的句子來
"There’s always this danger – and I was victim of it myself – that you’re young, you don’t know too much, then you have some coach or someone who says ‘I know this and you have to do that, and it’ll work for you’. I was in that spot myself and I believed people," she explained.
"Now I‘m old, I’m 30, and I started to realise that all those people who say they know, they actually don’t know. Many of them don’t know, and especially those who say that they know, don’t know, because those who do know say that they don’t know."

"I started to realise there are no shortcuts, there are no miracles. So that’s really my advice - to not necessarily believe your coach. I mean, you need to trust some people, you need people around you, and you can’t do everything on your own, but you have to be very careful about who you trust,” she said.
"For me, right now, it’s my family and close friends. I know many friends are not real friends. The number of people I trust is quite limited because you think you trust someone but in the end, you realise they are talking behind your back. The few people I trust are very close to me."
我反覆看這幾句看了好久,格外有感覺。從訓練角度來講,教練真的不見得是對的,就算科學期刊出來的論文一樣可以有很多錯誤,尤其在這個大嘻哈時代~喔不~是大資訊時代,每個人都能輕易地學習到相當專業的知識,沒有所謂的絕對對錯,所以她文中一開頭就講了句『"Don’t trust authority too much" 』,面對專業,都要抱持著懷疑與探究的心,透過質疑、反思、好奇、挖掘真相,最後才會變成自己的東西。
而從她那很隱晦的信任與不信任,還有朋友背後捅刀的部份。如果你也跟我一樣,會讓你想起人生路上曾碰過的不愉快的事,可能是誤信損友,或被某位敬重的前輩反咬一口,讓你一度不再信任任何人,很巧的,不少人都如此經歷過,想起來依舊難過。沒碰過的,恭喜你真是幸運兒。
另外,我稍早有查了Anna在UCI國際自由車總會前幾年的成績與排名,2016-2017有點慘,僅管2017加入職業車隊,但比賽一堆DNF,就算完賽的成績也不理想,脫離職業車隊的生活之後,起碼以結果論來說,算是自由自在了,尤其從文中來看,他也似乎沒碰上個好教練,或說是合得來的教練。
而以下這兩段話,還有她獨立自主訓練後的成績(昨日已列過),確實顯示出她是個非常高智慧且知道怎麼調整自己狀態與心理素質的選手,這是我們所有人夢寐以求的目標。
"I’m not the kind of cyclist who is only pushing the pedals; I’m also the mastermind behind my performance," she said. "I'm also proud of that."
"On paper, I’m an amateur, but cycling takes up a lot of space in my life. I don’t earn money… I mean not a lot, my income is like a normal job, but in my head cycling takes up a huge space. For the last one-and-a-half years, I was completely focused on today," she said.
文末,就是她馬上就要回奧地利去了,博後工作要繼續做,還是會繼續騎車,過著她的傳奇人生。

If you are extremely overweight, you want to focus on LOW IMPACT exercises and avoid high impact exercises such as jumping or running because it can be extremely stressful on your joints and may cause injuries.
This is a really effective total body low impact workout to help you burn fat, increase your metabolism, increase lean muscles and lose weight.
Exercises
1) Tip Toe Squat
2) Low Impact Burpees
3) Sumo Squat & Heel Touch
4) Kneel to Squat
5) Standing Crunches + Kick
6) Knee Pushup and Tap
7) Reverse Crunches
8) Plank
Sequence: 8 Minutes, 8 Intervals (40secs Workout - 20secs Rest)
Repeat 2 sets
Rest for 1 minute between sets
Total Time: 20 minutes
Estimated Calories Burned: 200 - 250Cals
Best Results: Do this workout 3 to 4 times weekly on alternate days.
Perform 45 - 60 minutes of low intensity cardio such as speed walking, swimming, cycling or dancing on the other days.
To progress:
- Increase the workout time and reduce the rest time (for instance 50secs workout - 10 secs rest for each exercise)
- Perform 3 - 4 sets and make it a 40-minute workout
- Lift some weights to make it more challenging
*You MUST perform 5 - 10 minutes warm-up before exercising and 5 - 10 minutes stretches after exercising to cool down. This is to avoid injuries, to reduce muscle soreness and speed up your recovery.
