It's a privilege to Experience Wonder right at our own doorstep. I've always been fascinated by the creation of Jewel and its iconic structure, which has helped put Singapore firmly on the world map yet again.
Every visit to Jewel gives me a feeling of pride and peace, and each time I remain in awe of its mesmerising architecture as I take in the grandeur of the HSBC rain vortex and walk through the beautiful landscaped flora and foliage of the canopy park. It's always a whole new uplifting and rejuvenating experience, and that's why I love visiting Jewel!
It's great that I now own a piece of it, with the Jewel Commemorative Book, which gives me a better understanding of the design conceptualisation of Jewel and the wonderful effort and genius behind it! Flipping through the pages of amazing photos takes me right back to the full immersive atmosphere of the Jewel Singapore. The book is available for sale at GIFT by Changi Airport, located at Jewel level 4. @jewelchangiairport

May is AIT@40 Immigration & Exchange Month! May is also Asian-American Heritage Month. Today, the United States mourns the loss of one of our most celebrated architects, I.M. Pei, who died at the age of 102. Pei was born in China and moved to the United States in the 1930s, where he earned an architecture degree from Harvard University. He then went on to design some of the United States’ and the world’s most iconic buildings, including the East Building of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, and the glass pyramid at the entrance to the Louvre in Paris, as well as the Luce chapel at Tunghai University in Taichung. Prada opens in St. Barts. In this iconic location, Prada presents an original design with an exotic vibe to create a unique, contemporary shopping experience. The store concept – inspired by the architecture of 1950s South American mansions – exhibits an exotic reinterpretation of Prada’s classic heritage elements. The checkered marble floor teamed with natural materials such as wood, within a bright atmosphere, creates an elegant yet relaxed setting. The original white-and-yellow striped entrance ceiling is a modern take on a characteristic coffered ceiling. The entire space is flooded with natural light which filters through the large windows and the wooden brise soleils.
Rooms with original, creative vintage-fabric wall coverings, which were inspired by iconic prints from the Prada collections and reinterpreted in an architectural context, house the special products in a brightly colored versatile setting. The collections are displayed on shelves made of natural wood or printed with graphic motifs. To complete the furnishings, rare design pieces, such as tubular-framed wicker armchairs from the Fifties, original seating by Giò Ponti and rattan armchairs designed by Franco Albini, create intimate spaces for relaxing moments of leisure.
The new store exudes a sophisticated atmosphere which gives the feeling of a relaxing, luxury holiday in a unique, original place.

Euro Trip 2018 - FULL PLAYLIST: https://bit.ly/2mtyr3P

Hey, guys. It's good to see you all back for part 5 of the vlogging series - Euro Trip 2018. That means that this series ain't so shite! Continuing our stay in Barcelona, we're visiting some of the most iconic tourist attractions of this city in this part of the series.
Firstly, we headed off to Sagrada Familia - the Roman Catholic church, designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. I'm definitely not a church person but I have to say Sagrada Familia struck me as something different altogether. Both the external and interior design of the building were breath-taking, with details you just don't see in any other European churches. It was a shame that the lift broke down for the tower we were supposed to be going up to but hey... it's fine - Roasted Duck acted as my eyes for any skyline views during the trip.
Then, we headed off to Casa Batllo. Hmmm, as you can see from the video, I personally didn't enjoy this place. I'm not an architecture kind of person and definitely not very artsy myself. What I showed in the vlog was a genuine depiction of how tourists would generally react to a place like this - with a diverse point of view on the building and story behind it. I guess it really ultimately depends on your background, experience, and areas of interest. And this was certainly not something for me.
Lastly, we ended the day with some amazing flamenco dance experience. Now this is my thing. With a background in dancing and performing arts, I could really appreciate the complexity of the routine and the amount of effort you need to put into preparation and performance in order to bring about such a captivating performance. Having already shared my feedback in the vlog, ultimately I was still very much content with the whole show.
That essentially wrapped up our second and also last day in Barcelona. Although we went to a couple of other places (e.g. Park Guell, restaurants, shopping centres etc.), I decided not to include everything since I don't want to present a laundry list of things we did here. Hope to see you all next time as we set foot on one of the most anticipated places of the vlogging series - Santorini! ?✈️?

The 2018 Toyota C-HR is designed around the theme of “distinctive diamond”, combining style and strength. The CHR ’s exterior is unique in the compact crossover market – combining a coupe-like sporty upper body with a dynamic lower body and powerful stance. The interplay between the main body and prominent wheel flares presents an iconic diamond profile that stands out from the crowd. The face is sharp and powerful, designed to look wider than it is and express the C-HR’s dynamic, urban-friendly performance. The profile emphasizes the C-HR’s agile proportions, with powerful wheel arches housing large 17” alloy wheels – accentuating the vehicle’s sturdy posture and compact cabin. And the rear design, complete with hatch fitted with a lip spoiler and functional top wing, enhances the C-HR’s futuristic look and surprising girth.
Open the door, and the C-HR invites drivers into a modern cabin that may appear compact from the outside, but is surprisingly spacious. The interior is a study in contrasts – combining a seamless, expansive space for five adults with a driver’s zone that places the focus on performance. The exterior’s distinctive diamond motif is reinforced inside, through diamond-patterned textures and fittings – from the dual-zone automatic climate controls, to the speaker surrounds and door pulls, to the black headliner above the front row seats.
The C-HR’s sports car-inspired dash is angled to provide the driver with a clear view of the road ahead and intuitive access to instrumentation. Bolstered bucket seats keep driver and passengers snug and comfortable during spirited driving. There’s generous headroom and legroom in the rear seats, which are split 60/40 and fold flat for extra cargo-carrying versatility.
The C-HR benefits from the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) – Toyota’s state of the art approach to platform and powertrain design. The vehicle takes full advantage of TNGA to deliver sports car-style responsiveness, linearity, and consistency of performance. TNGA confers an inherent low centre of gravity, high strength and body rigidity, and low weight to give the C-HR superior handling, whether one is steering, accelerating or braking.
This is further enhanced with a newly-developed MacPherson strut front suspension to help the C-HR’s front end respond quickly and precisely at initial corner turn-in. At the rear, an all-new double-wishbone suspension includes Toyota’s first use of shock absorbers with urethane upper supports to improve passenger comfort, cabin quietness and vehicle agility.

Continuing a tradition of showcasing bold, exploratory exhibitions curated by the University of Kent’s Fine Art students, framed by the stunning backdrop of one of the country’s most iconic locations, the Historic Dockyard Chatham, our visitors will encounter a broad range of artistic styles and media, an explosion of imagination and a celebration of art’s potential for society.
This exhibition offers the public a fascinating insight into contemporary art’s most recent practices and processes such as a ‘Grand Design’ home evolved by a hoarder, an oozing conversation with the earth, a system of tunnels, angry letters about Gillingham’s Samurai sent to Medway council, a Dockyard worker’s fall down a well as sculpture, personal Facebook data becomes food, a dream-like exploration of the car industry, hand movements translated into Fibonacci sound, an autobiographical feature length film made on a mobile phone and a performance where the rules of tennis are applied to an exam.
The Degree Show’s aim is to encourage audiences to explore the potential of Medway as a dynamic hub for art, with the School of Music and Fine Art as a major conduit for these activities, positively impacting on the community and offering imaginative suggestions and visionary strategies for cultural regeneration.
As well as involving students from Kent, and across the UK, this year’s Degree Show exhibitors include student artists from Iran, Thailand, China, Russia, Italy, Cyprus, Mexico, Hong Kong, Isle of Man and Ghana.
The Fine Art Degree Show exhibition catalogue features texts by academics across a range of University of Kent Schools: Emily Rosamond, Grant Pooke, Simon Smith, Howard Griffin and Rebecca Hobbs.
Degree Show visitors can attend a wide range of exciting educational activities. Young people attending can also participate in workshops with some of the exhibiting artists. On Tuesday 24h May and Wednesday 25th May Education Days will be held for local schools and colleges.
