【論述觀察：深水埗被選為全球第三的'coolest neighborhood'】

幾年前開始留意到，旅遊及消費媒體、跟各種城市指南，愈來愈喜歡去選世上的‘coolest neighborhood’，不以國家、城市、城區為單位，而去推薦一處「鄰里」，幾成一種潮流。

無論是'coolest'還是'neighborhood'，兩個字其實都不易翻譯作中文neighborhood直譯作「鄰里」，也許比較近似我們的「社區」吧，雖然也不完全是那回事，有點規模較小、幾條街的感覺。

今天看到全球版本的Time Out，選出世界四十個coolest neighborhood，果不其然，香港的深水埗榜上有名，更名列第三。深水埗的變化，相信將更受注視了。

Time Out說這排行榜是基於超過38,000份問卷、當地人的想法、加上編輯和作者的意見而去選，更特別提到，疫情之下，人們加倍重視local neighborhood，看到它的重要性。

研究城市文化的學者曾提出，這樣的國際媒體對一個小區的論述和確認，是重要的里程碑，也算是長遠而言它迎來大改變的關鍵時刻。這更讓人想去問，深水埗接下來會怎樣？(2018年時，Time Out也作過這樣的排名，曾將灣仔放在第35位，那時想，灣仔的魅力其實已消失得所剩不多了)

Time Out說coolest neighborhood的定義該是，當中有創新與包容的飲食、藝術與文化、付擔得起的租金與生活費、難以定義的活力等，它們與在其中的人的迷人組合…而在這年過後，它們更應該是人、社群和商店互助、共渡難關的小區，也因為這樣，這些地帶才成了一座城市的靈魂。

這樣的定義，超出了一般消費和旅遊所指向的coolness，而更在乎社區裡的人和經濟，好好交織起來而生的魅力，也許亦可以作為最簡單的論述觀察，去進一步談論和思考社區的變化。

其實今年Lonely Planet也出版了一本書，叫Secret City: The Insider's Guide to the World's Coolest Neighbourhoods，精選了全球50座城市裡的社區，聽說香港被選中的是大埔，也是很有趣的選擇。

這些來自國際城市指南有關coolest neighborhoods的說法，也讓我們加倍留意到，不同人是如何想像社區。一個社區怎樣才算美好，永遠涉及非常多重論述和實踐的爭逐角力，好好去整理它們的脈絡，也有助我們疏理近來關於士紳化、「社區保存」和社區發展的種種爭論。

Decorating “Spring sleeves” show house has been a fun project. Meetings, plans’ studying, brainstorming, visiting the neighborhood, furnitures and deco shopping, installation, first check, second check, shooting all the process… and I’m happy and proud to share with you all the final result in this second episode.Decorating this show house with the restrictions encountered has been a great challenge but I hope this decoration allows every clients visiting to feel comfortable and trigger some pictures and excitement imagining living in this space.
