Guerlain is committed to giving back to Nature as part of our #InTheNameOfBeauty commitment.
To create the most beautiful fragrances using the finest natural materials, Guerlain Master Perfumer Thierry Wasser spends a third of his time travelling the world sourcing raw ingredients. At the beginning of each year, he visits Calabria, Italy, during the harvest of one of Guerlain's most prized raw materials: bergamot, present in almost all of the Maison's creations, from the very first Colognes and Shalimar to La Petite Robe Noire and the Aqua Allegoria collection.
The unique nature of the bergamot grown for Guerlain lies in the blend of essences, combining essential oils derived from different harvests. The result mixes notes that are sometimes fruity and floral, sometimes more green and bitter. In line with our convictions, Guerlain is committed to a sustainable partnership with the bergamot producers, encouraging them to diversify and ensure the longevity of their crops.

Guerlain is committed to giving back to Nature as part of our #InTheNameOfBeauty commitment. For over ten years, Guerlain has worked to protect the preserved ecosystem of Ouessant Island, off the coast of Brittany. A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the island is home to a singular native species, the black bee, whose incredibly pure honey is the basis of the BlackBee Repair Technology* used in the Abeille Royale collection.
To protect this unique species of bee, found only on Ouessant Island, Guerlain has been a proud patron of the Brittany Black Bee Conservatory Association since 2011. In 2014, we signed our Sustainable Development Sponsorship Pact, which will accompany the Conservatory in two main areas for ten years: financial support to ensure the maintenance of the hives and other associated initiatives, and support for its research and communication activities.
