秀智瘦身餐單
早餐:番薯1個、雞胸肉、牛奶
午餐:糙米飯、蔬菜沙律
晚餐:番薯2個
減肥法則:下午6時後禁食,配合適當運動
從中醫角度來看,番薯性平,有健脾胃、補氣血、通便秘的功效,是健康的粗糧選擇,亦是減肥恩物,脾胃虛弱、氣血兩虛體質人士亦適合食用,尤其習慣性便秘者,要注意過量食用易引起胃氣、放屁等。糙米是未去除外皮的稻米,纖維量較白米多,亦是適合瘦身人士適量食用的粗糧選擇。
根據中醫古籍《黃帝內經》的「子午流注圖」,下午5時至7時腎經當值,是最佳的晚飯時間,晚上7時至11時宜休息及準備睡覺,所以下午6時後禁食能讓脾胃有足夠時間消化食物,這種減肥方法符合中醫養生原則,體重亦不易反彈。
番薯 — 性平,能健脾胃、補氣血,亦有通便秘的功效。適合脾胃虛弱、營養不良、氣血兩虛、產後或習慣性便秘者食用。

This diet relies on brown rice and sweet potato as the primary source of carbohydrates. Let us examine the diet from the Chinese Medicine perspective and crack the code!
Bae Suzy’s diet
Breakfast: 1 sweet potato, chicken breast, milk
Lunch: brown rice, vegetable salad
Dinner: 2 sweet potatoes
Diet rule: No eating after 6pm. Exercise appropriately.
From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, sweet potato is mild in nature, can strengthen the stomach and the spleen, replenish the qi and the blood, and promote bowel movement. It is a healthy coarse grain, which at the same time can also help lose weight. It is suitable for individuals with a weak stomach and spleen, as well as those with asthenic qi and blood. People with regular constipation problems have to be careful not to consume excessively, as it might cause bloating and flatulence. Brown rice is actually whole rice that has not had its husk removed, so it is high in fiber. Hence, individuals can include brown rice into their weight-loss diet.
According to the ‘midnight-noon and ebb-flow doctrine (‘zi wu liu zhu’) in the Esoteric Scripture of the Yellow Emperor (‘huang di nei jing’), 5pm-7pm is the best time to have dinner, whereas 7pm-11pm is the best time to rest and go to bed. Therefore, we should not eat anything after 6pm, and allow our stomach and spleen to digest our dinner.This is in line with the Chinese Medicine principles, which can help regulate our weight and keep us healthy.
Sweet Potato- mild in nature, can strengthen the spleen and stomach, replenish qi and blood, and suitable for constipation relief. It is suitable for those with asthenic spleen and stomach, with lack of nutrients, with asthenic qi and blood, with chronic constipation, or postpartum ladies.

Japanese Potato Salad
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 30min
Number of servings: 4
Ingredients:
300g (10.5oz.) potato
50g (1.8oz.) carrot
50g (1.8oz.) onion
50g (1.8oz.) cucumber
2 slices of cooked ham
1/2 cup whole kernel corn (canned)
4 tbsp. mayonnaise
1/2 tbsp. vinegar (rice or grain)
salt and pepper
Directions:
1. Slice the onion, sprinkle with a bit of salt, and leave for 2~3 minutes until limp. Wash and drain well. Use a paper towel to squeeze out any excess water. *This removes the bitter taste and strong smell of the onion.
2. Slice the cucumber into thin rounds (you can use a vegetable slicer if you have). Sprinkle with a bit of salt. When they become limp, drain well and gently squeeze with a paper towel. *Removing excess water from the cucumber will keep the salad from becoming wet.
3. Cut sliced ham into 1/2 inch (1cm) square pieces. Slice the potato into 1/2 inch (1cm) half rounds. Place the potato slices in a pot, lightly wash (to remove extra starch), add water until covered, add 1/2 tsp. of salt, and put on high heat. When it becomes to a boil, turn down to medium and cook for about 12 minutes. 4. Check the potatoes with a skewer. When they are done, drain well, transfer to a bowl and mash with a fork while they are still hot. Season with 1/2 tbsp. of vinegar, salt and pepper. *The seasonings will make the potato tasty.
5. Slice the carrot into 0.1 inch (3mm) quarter rounds. Boil for 3 minutes and drain well.
6. When the potatoes and carrots are cool enough, combine all the ingredients in one bowl and season with 4 tbsp. of mayonnaise, salt and pepper.

In this video, I will show you how to arrange Inarizushi for Hanami Bento (Bento box for Sakura / cherry blossom viewing).
Compared to the store-bought Inariage (flavored Aburaage) they are not too sweet but very mild in flavor. Good for your health! Yummy!!!
In the end of this video, I will share with you some clips from Sakura viewing we went this weekend. Unfortunately Sakura trees were not in full bloom and the weather was cold and cloudy... However, many people were enjoying Sakura :)

Inarizushi
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 1hr
Number of servings: 14 pieces
Ingredients:
660g (1.5lb.) cooked Japanese rice (short-grain rice)
A
* 3 tbsp. vinegar
* 1.5 tbsp. sugar
* 1 tsp. salt
7 Aburaage (deep-fried tofu pouch)
B
* 3 tbsp. soy sauce
* 3 tbsp. Mirin (sweet sake)
* 3 tbsp. sugar
* 300ml Dashi broth or water
roasted white sesame seeds if desired
((Toppings - if desired))
* Ikanago (boiled sand eel) + Kinshi Tamago (shredded egg crepes)
* Ikura (salmon roe) + Kinshi Tamago (shredded egg crepes)
* Ikura (salmon roe) + crab meat
* Shiso leaves + Shirasu (dried baby anchovy)
* Kamaage Sakuraebi (small shrimp) + grated ginger
Directions:
1. Place the Aburaage on a cutting board and trace the Aburaage with a chopstick to make it easy to open. Then cut in halves and open. If you want to make a change, you can turn the skins inside out!
2. Put the Aburaage in boiling water for a minute to remove the excess oil. Drain in a strainer and soak them in a bowl of water to cool. Stack up 3-4 pieces at a time, then drain well (press with your hands) like you make a rice ball.
3. Put B and Aburaage in a medium pan, then bring to a boil. Turn the heat down to low and cover with an Otoshibuta or a wooden drop-lid (you can substitute it with with a sheet of aluminum foil and use any small lid or a plate as a weight if needed) and allow to simmer until the liquid is reduced to 1/4. Stop the heat and let them cool completely.
4. Make Sushi vinegar by mixing A (or use store-bought Sushi vinegar). Add the Sushi vinegar while the rice is hot and slice through the rice using a rice paddle to separate the grains. Mix sesame seeds in the Sushi rice if you like. Divide the rice into 14 equal portions. Wet your hands and make small balls of Sushi rice.
5, Take a piece of Aburaage and lightly press with your hand to remove the excess liquid. Open the pouch and fold back the cut edge to make it easy to stuff the rice. Stuff a ball of Sushi rice to the corners of Aburaage with your fingers, then close the pouch.
Leave the pouch open and top with your favorite toppings, if you like :)
