【National Palace Museum Launches Bilingual Database 】
Ranked seventh in the “Visitor Figures 2015: Exhibition & Museum Attendance Survey," the National Palace Museum is a “must see” for every tourist who visits Taiwan. The museum is the jewel in the crown of Taiwan's tourism.
Due to provisions in the "2030 Bilingual Nation" efforts, the National Palace Museum has already launched an English version website and opened its database to the public.
Since tourists are not able to visit Taiwan because of the COVID-19 situation, access to the database allows people around the world to see high-quality images of the collection.
In the future, we hope every visitor to Taiwan will have a chance to visit the National Palace Museum.

New Taipei City? The Wormhole, Lingjiao Waterfall, Elephant Trunk Rock
Taichung City? Basically everywhere, they toss article 36 around left and right, but especially Fairy Waterfall and Da’an Grand Canyon
Yunlin? It’s time to open up Wannian Canyon. People involved in accidents were never swimming anyway. This law was misapplied.
Nantou? Jade Gate only floods during a typhoon. Closing it year round is not necessary.
Taroko National Park? Hike in high places only. Stay out of the river. This is a crying shame.
Taitung? Hired lifeguards to patrol Flowing Lake and tell people to get out of the water. What was the point? If you have lifeguards just observe people swimming. If you don’t, they put up a sign that says “No Lifeguard on Duty, Swim at Your Own Risk”
Kenting National Park demonstrates the correct way to manage recreational water sports. “No lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk” should become the official mantra of the watersports tourism development. This sign clearly states that swimming is allowed, but that Kenting National
Park is not responsible for your safety. This is the correct way to do it. There is no reason to invoke Article 36 of the Act for Tourism Development. I hope that other authorities around Taiwan are taking note.
Taipower? WRA? Sunmoon Lake, Shimen Reservoir, and other lakes in Taiwan. You have powerboats but ban kayaks. Don’t use current legislation to penalize people for recreational sports. Fight for legislation to remove liability from recreational sports. Enforcing water safety isn’t your responsibility. People are responsible for their own safety in the water.
There is no lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk.
Props to Kenting National Park for understanding this.

Hi founders,
Last month we took a trip to KKday’s office to visit one of our mentors, Ming Chen, the CEO and founder. KKday is the leading e-commerce travel platform that connects travelers with authentic local tours & activities. Based in Taiwan, KKday was hit hard by COVID-19 towards the beginning of the year, but as Taiwan was able to handle the pandemic well, local tourism boomed and KKday was able to make a comeback during the summer vacations.
Ming shared with us about his founder journey and how he manages the helm of his ship. He has been devoting himself to the online travel industry since 1999 and has over 18 years of experience in the industry with multiple exits During the height of the pandemic, Ming showed both strength and vulnerability, which kept the morale of the team. In board meetings, Ming consistently gives credit to his coworkers and executive team, and allows for a culture where innovation and new ideas thrive. By delegating well and entrusting his team to get things done, Ming is seen as a great leader from within and from outside of KKday.
Since my college days, I’ve always been interested in leadership - not just for myself but how to identify good leaders around me. One of my favorite things about working at AppWorks is being surrounded by those who are better than me so that I can constantly grow. The founders in our network also recognize the leaders in our community. The office hours with all AppWorks Partners, mentors, and alumni have given founders the chance to open a window into a different perspective and it’s one of the best things we can provide to our community.

Let me show you around the 2020 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival being held by Love River in Kaohsiung, Taiwan until February 9, 2020. Hurry and find the time to go out and see all the beautiful art. In order to celebrate Taiwanese culture and the holiday of the Lantern Festival in Taiwan, come be a part of the festivities!
This amazing festival put together by the Kaohsiung Board of Tourism exhibits lanterns and art installations by Taiwanese artists as well as foreign artists. The theme this year is sustainability, environmental awareness, and being aware that we are also part of our own environments.
While attending the festival, you can not only see many beautiful lanterns, but also interact with a number of them in many ways including touch and an AR app!
The festival is separated into 8 main areas with other lanterns found in between as well as a water and light show (fountain performance) which happens every 30 minutes.
Additionally, since in the Chinese Zodiac, 2020 is the year of the rat, one of those main areas is dedicated to the often overlooked, adorable rat.
While walking between the exhibits you can also see a number of vendors selling various kinds of food, crafts, toys, as well as stands with games to play.
Special thanks to the Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau for inviting me to help spread the word it truly was an honor!
Remember, the festival is open each night at Love River from now to February 9th! Go check it out!
Thanks for watching!
Brian
