Lavish Grace for Unwise Spenders

“Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having a great priest over God’s house, let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water, let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews‬ ‭10:19-23‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Perhaps you’re feeling guilty right now for spending money carelessly, and you’re also feeling worried that because of your mistake, your provision will run out during this pandemic season.

The world has a gloomy outlook about the economy, and it may be true for them, but God has plans to provide for His children.

If we look at the Parable of the Prodigal Son, you’ll never find the father depriving the prodigal son of provision just because he squandered it all.

That younger son took the inheritance while his father was still alive, and spent it all. We would expect the father to scold him and put him on probation when he came home.

But that son received no lectures when he got home. Just lavish hugs and kisses. The father immediately commanded his servants to put the family signet ring on the son’s finger.

““He arose, and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe, and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.” (Luke‬ ‭15:20-22‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

This was essentially a blank cheque. He could buy anything, putting it on his father’s “tab”.

Dear brethren, if you have been unwise in your spending, it may trigger the evil conscience in your flesh to think that God is withholding His blessings to ‘teach you a lesson’.

But which good father starves his little child to let him learn a lesson? The apostle John addressed believers in his letter as “little children”.

We have to realize that Abba God is not holding back any blessings from us—He has already given us every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus.
Every blessing has been approved with a “Yes” and “Amen” in Christ Jesus.

Our own guilt, ignorance and evil conscience can rob us of faith, hindering ourselves from receiving God’s never-ending supply of grace.

“But I sinned by spending money unwisely. I wasn’t a good steward of God’s blessings. Don’t I deserve to be punished?”

On this day of Passover, I exhort you to look to the cross and see Jesus bearing all the punishment, condemnation and rejection for your sins.

This is exactly why we need Jesus. We keep failing and have no power to be perfect on our own, but because of His finished work at the cross, we have been totally forgiven.

This is the righteous basis for you to keep receiving good, even when you fail. It is the Grace of God.

And it is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance (changing our minds) in Christ Jesus.

I’m not advocating unwise, exorbitant spending habits, but I’m saying that if you have failed in that area, there is no condemnation for you.

Abba God will save you from your bad financial situation, and make sure that you have no lack. As you experience this lavish grace, you will be transformed and become a better steward of God’s blessings.

“Don’t I have to do something to fix this mess that I created?”

Yes, your part is to believe God’s word. Believe that you have forgiveness of sins, that you are still righteous in Christ, and that you are blessed by Grace through faith, not by deserving it with your works.

The way that God has designed for His children to increase in provision, to go from barely surviving to wealthy, is through the grace of giving.

Be a channel of His love in this very practical area. Giving breaks the love for money and makes you more obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
If you can give of your resources, there’s very few things that you wouldn’t yield to God.

Instead of being unwise in spending on personal pleasures, why not be a generous giver? Give lavishly because you’ll always receive much more through that. Be a “prodigal son”—prodigal in giving, not in spending! Shalom 🙏

[Al Quran Bukanlah Kitab Pertama Memperkenalkan Tudung]

Di dalam artikel sebelum ini sudah dibincangkan mengenai mengapa manusia ini secara fitrahnya mahu menutup aurat atau kemaluannya. Ini kerana fitrah manusia memahami tuntutan perasaan malu itu yang sedia tertanam di dalam diri mereka. Tambahan pula bagi wanita juga memahami auratnya tidak sama dengan lelaki. Arahan supaya wanita berpakaian dengan pakaian labuh dan memakai tudung ini bukanlah dimulakan di dalam al Quran. Ia sudah sedia diamalkan oleh masyarakat terdahulu di atas maslahah menjaga kehormatan diri.

Malah Allah juga telah mengaturkan cara wanita perlu menutup aurat. Aturan yang Allah turunkan ini bukan bermula dari al Quran sahaja malah kitab-kitab rasul terdahulu juga telah disertakan hukum memakai khimar (tudung) dan melabuhkan pakaian khusus bagi wanita.

Di dalam al Quran, jelas Allah menyebut tentang kewajipan untuk wanita menutup aurat dengan sempurna dari seluruh tubuh badannya kecuali pada ayat “maa zoharo minha” iaitu bahagian yang diperselisihkan untuk ditutup. Ia disebut di dalam surah an Nur:

“Dan katakanlah kepada perempuan yang beriman, agar mereka menjaga pandangannya, dan memelihara kemaluannya, dan janganlah menampakkan perhiasannya (auratnya), kecuali yang (biasa) terlihat. Dan hendaklah mereka menutupkan kain kerudung ke dadanya, dan janganlah menampakkan perhiasannya (auratnya), kecuali kepada suami mereka dan ….” (QS. An-Nur : 31)

Satu ayat ini sudah jelas menceritakan mengenai kewajipan wanita mengenakan ‘khimar’ kain tudung di kepalanya dan melabuhi ke dadanya.

Ulama fiqh berbeza pendapat di dalam garis pada bahagian manakah yang dimaksudkan pada ayat “Maa zoharo minha” itu dengan bersandarkan kepada hadis antaranya, dari Aisyah:

“Wahai Asma’, sesungguhnya seorang wanita, apabila telah baligh (mengalami haid), tidak layak tampak dari tubuhnya kecuali ini dan ini (dengan menunjuk muka dan telapak tangannya). (HR Abu Dawud 2/226).[1]

Majoriti ulama berpendapat bahawa seluruh tubuh wanita adalah aurat kecuali wajah dan telapak tangan. Abu Hanifah mengatakan tapak kaki wanita bukan aurat.[2] Manakala Imam Nawawi mengatakan seluruh tubuh adalah aurat kecuali wajah dan pergelangan tangan.[3]

Dalam isu pemakaian khimar (tudung) ini tidak ada khilaf di dalamnya. Ia adalah kewajipan bagi muslimat untuk menutup seluruh badannya kecuali khilaf pada tangan, tapak kaki dan wajahnya sahaja. Manakala ayat seterusnya juga menguatkan lagi kewajipan wanita untuk mengenakan pakaian sopan iaitu dengan mengenakan jilbab iaitu pakaian luar yang labuh menutupi pakaian dalam. Pakaian ini juga diimejkan sebagai pakaian wanita merdeka, firman Allah yang bermaksud:

“Wahai Nabi! Katakanlah kepada isteri-isterimu, anak-anak perempuanmu dan isteri-isteri orang mukmin, Hendaklah mereka menutupkan jilbabnya keseluruh tubuh mereka. Yang demikian itu agar mereka lebih mudah untuk dikenali, sehingga mereka tidak di ganggu.” (Surah al Ahzab: 59)

Pemakaian jilbab dan tudung ini adalah pemakaian yang mengangkat martabat wanita. Malah sebelum diturunkan al Quran, para rasul terdahulu telah membawa syariat ini. Seperti dibincangkan dalam penulisan sebelum ini bahawa semua rasul adalah muslim dan membawa ajaran Islam. Malah ajaran dan syariat itu masih tersisa di dalam kitab-kitab terdahulu dan digubal seperti di dalam ajaran Yahudi dan Kristian.

Agama Yahudi

Di dalam tradisi agama ini, wanita mereka memakai tudung. Dalam Perjanjian Lama menyebut:

“Katanya kepada hamba itu: “Siapakah lelaki itu yang berjalan di padang ke arah kita?” jawab hamba itu: Dialah tuanku itu,” Lalu Ribka mengambil telekungnya dan bertelekunglah ia” (Kejadian 24: 65)

Selain itu terdapat senarai pelanggaran hukum yang berkait dengan wanita di dalam kitab Talmud dan salah satu adalah perbuatan tidak memakai tudung:

“The following women are divorced, and do not receive [the amount of] their ketubah: One who violates Mosaic Law or Jewish custom. What constitutes [a violation of] Mosaic Law? If she feeds him untithed [food]; if she engages in intercourse with him while she was a niddah [a female who has menstrual discharges which render her impure]; if she does not set apart challah[a portion of a batch of bread dough given to a kohen which becomes holy upon separation, and can only be consumed by kohanim or their household]; and if she makes vows, but does not fulfill [them]. What constitutes [a violation of] Jewish custom? [If] she goes out [in public] with her hair uncovered; [if] she spins [thread] in the market, and converses [flirtatiously] with any man. Abba Saul says, "Also one who curses his children in his presence." Rabbi Tarfon says, "[Also] a noisy woman." What constitutes a noisy woman? One who speaks in her own house [so loudly] that her neighbors can hear her voice.” (Mishnah Ketubot 7: 6)

“The Daughters of Israel shall not walk with their heads uncovered in a marketplace, whether she is available (for marriage) or whether she is married.” (Hilkhoth Isurei Bi'ah 21:17)

Malah di dalam kitab Talmud terdapat banyak lagi bahagian yang membincangkan tentang memakai tudung antaranya adalah dalam Berakhot 24a, dan Hilkhoth Avoda Zarah 12:11.

Agama Kristian

Di dalam agama Kristian juga mengambil tradisi di dalam Yahudi. Malah di dalam Tanakh (taurat) sudah menggambarkan situasi masyarakat terdahulu sudah memakai telekung. Disebut di dalam buku Kejadian:

“Katanya kepada hamba itu: “Siapakah lelaki itu yang berjalan di padang ke arah kita?” jawab hamba itu: Dialah tuanku itu,” Lalu Ribka mengambil telekungnya dan bertelekunglah ia” (Kejadian 24: 65)

Manakala di dalam bahagian Perjanjian Baru pula terdapat beberapa ayat yang menyuruh perempuan supaya memakai tudung. Di dalam Bible, 1 Korintus, Bab 11:

“Tetapi tiap-tiap perempuan yang berdoa atau bernubuat dengan kepala yang tidak bertudung, menghina kepalanya, sebab ia sama dengan perempuan yang dicukur rambutnya.’’(1Korintus 11:5)

“Sebab jika perempuan tidak mahu menudungi kepalanya, maka haruslah ia juga menggunting rambutnya.Tetapi jika bagi perempuan adalah penghinaan, bahawa rambutnya digunting atau dicukur, maka haruslah ia menudungi kepalanya.’’ (1Korintus 11:6)

“Sebab itu, perempuan harus memakai tanda wibawa di kepalanya oleh kerana para malaikat.‘’(1 Korintus 11:10)

“Pertimbangkanlah sendiri: Patutkah perempuan berdoa kepada Allah dengan kepala yang tidak bertudung?’’ (1 Korintus 11:13)

Agama Hindu

Di dalam agama Hindu juga menganjurkan pemakaian tudung bagi perempuan. Disebut di dalam Veda (bahasa Sanskrit):

“patiryadvadhvo vāsasā svaman ghamabhidhitsate, ye vadhvaścandram vahatum yaksmā yanti janādanu.” (Rigveda 10: 85: 30)

Bermaksud: “Unlovely is his body when it glistens with this wicked fiend, What time the husband wraps about his limbs the garment of his wife.”

“Adha Pashyaswa, Mopari Santaram Padakau Har, Ma Te Kashaplakaun Drushan Shtrihi Brahma Babhuvith” (Rigveda 8: 33: 19)

Sebahagian terjemahan menyebut:

“Hey woman, you always keep a low vision. Never have an eye contact with men. Walk seriously and cover all the organs of your body. Your status in the family is an important as that of Lord Brahma in the Yadnya”

Manakala terjemahan Ralph T.H.Griffith menyebut:

“Cast down thine eyes and look not up. More closely set thy feet. Let none
See what thy garment veils, for thou, a Brahman, hast become a dame.”

Sememangnya tradisi dan agama di dalam masyarakat India mereka memakai tudung. Tudung di dalam masyarakat mereka dikenali sebagai Ghoonghat, Chunni atau Dupatta. Ia biasa dipakai oleh masyarakat wanita India. Tidak kira agama Hindu, Jain atau Sikh akan memakainya.

Agama Sikh

Di dalam agama Sikh, diwajibkan penganut mereka agar memakai serban. Manakala bagi pihak wanita pula mereka boleh memilih di antara serban ataupun memakai kain selendang (Ghoonghat) menutup kepala. Di dalam kitab suci utama mereka, Guru Granth Sahib Ji mengatakan:

“Naapaak Paak Kar Hadhoor Hadheesaa Saabath Soorath Dhasathaar Siraa ||12||”

Purify what is impure, and let the Lord's Presence be your religious tradition. Let your total awareness be the turban on your head. (Guru Granth Sahib: Ang 1084: 12)

Ayat ini terpakai untuk lelaki dan wanita.

Malah dilihat selain daripada agama-agama ini, agama lain juga memiliki anjuran supaya wanita mereka memakai penutup kepala. Di dalam agama Zoroaster mereka juga mewajibkan wanita mereka memakai hijab ketika memasuki rumah ibadat (Ateshgah). Begitu juga dengan agama Sabean Mandaeisme, Druze, Samaritan, Yazdanisme juga mewajibkan wanita mereka untuk mengenakan tudung di kepala.

Kesimpulan

Wanita dan hijab adalah elemen kesopanan yang tidak dapat dipisahkan dari sudut kaca mata manusia dan juga agama. Pemakaian tudung juga adalah tuntutan dari Allah sejak dari dahulu lagi. Hikmah tentang pemakaiannya sungguh besar dan luas jika ingin dibincangkan. Ia menjaga kehormatan wanita dan juga dapat menjaga dari pandangan mata orang lelaki.

Adapun orang mempersoalkan bahawa kewajipan ini menindas wanita dan sebagainya. Sebenarnya terdapat kejanggalan dalam cara sebahagian kita berfikir. Mengapa kita tidak mempersoalkan jika semua pejabat menggariskan kod etika pemakaian seperti kena memakai kasut, memakai baju kemeja kosong, baju batik atau kita juga dapat melihat anggota polis dikodkan dengan pakaian beruniform, tidak pula kita mempersoalkan perbuatan itu sebagai menindas mereka. Sedangkan itu hanya arahan manusia dan etika yang digubal oleh manusia sahaja. Itupun kita tidak persoalkan dan kenapa apabila berhadapan dengan arahan Allah, Tuhan yang memberi kita nyawa, makanan, rezeki, dan segala-galanya, tiba-tiba kita banyak berdalih. Tepuk dada tanya iman.

[HAS MCDONALD'S CONQUERED ASIA?]

If McDonald's were a country, it's revenue would make it the 105th largest economy in the world, surpassing the GDP of Estonia, Cambodia & Afghanistan.

The number of McDonald's employees worldwide would be more than the entire population of Iceland, Barbados and Samoa.

It's a big company, but it wasn't always that way.

McDonald's was founded on May 15th, 1940 in San Bernardino, California - that's over 77 years ago - and has since expanded to a 120 countries and territories around the world, serving 68 million customers each day.

It took 27 years for the first McDonald's to appear outside of the US, and 31 years to make it's way to a second continent.

THIS continent was Asia, and in this video I'm going to take you through the next 46 years of McDonald's' Asian ascension.

So, which Asian country was the FIRST to open a McDonald's? What did McDonalds have to sacrifice in order compete with local markets? And how much of Asia is there still left to conquer, as of today?

We'll get into all of that, so grab a double cheeseburger (maybe some fries), and we'll explore every Asian country to have ever had a McDonald's.
